DSRA does not require long pants either, it is in their rule book but I noticed at Farmersville I was only one wearing pants waiting to weigh boat as I was sweating badly, asked them about it and they said due to heat they changed the rule. It was still cooler than sitting in a hot drag car in full suit though waiting in the staging lanes

My Sport Lifeline also has that flap (maybe not as lg.) and I was told by them that it also helped stop hyper neck extension to the rear. As I told my scuba students " Its only YOUR life....its your decision" Good to hear that you are up and around Tomanytoys.... those pics are a great reminder how violent our passion can get! Gary

The vest does have a flap in the back, it's not as large as the one you're referring to but it does extend well above the bottom edge of the helmet. I ordered a new vest with the higher collar and full flack (given what I'm now doing) ironically, it showed up last week!
Yes, they're a bit uncomfortable and can limit your movement but it beats the alternative!
Im not aware of an ODBA rule regarding long pants etc. I know that up here long pants, long sleeves, shoes etc are mandatory and checked for. That being said, we don't get the same kind of temperatures up here in the middle of summer as you get in the deep south. I don't think we've ever seen a race with temps over 90*.

I was back at work 2 days after my swim. Told my guys that this was their opportunity to step up and show me what they've got. It's going pretty good so far. /;-)

Sure Glad your getting better shoulders take for ever to heal!! Just dont over do the bad one it will get strong again in time. Great reading and info. Thanks for being so open about the whole accident. Only good can come from that.:cheers:

The relays Mercury uses is rated at 40 amps. The relays can be replaced by these starter relays that are rated at 750 amps, you would need four of these to make it work with a 2 wire motor...... or two for a three wire motor..................

They would not fit under the cowling however, but single ram systems are already in the boat anyways.

And the good thing is that if one welded shut, the other would disconnect when you let off the button so the motor won't keep going up...............

We hit a small wake and spun out last Oct. at 90 mph. Pulled the short race trim ram apart. Just got back to 100%. NOT fun.. Our bodies don't like sudden stops.

I personally have run 24v through my up sol. for 22 years and never had it fail! It's the same that came on my 260 straight from Merc in 1995 and being on a fishing boat, it gets the hell used out of it! I did have to replace the down sol a few years ago and it's still 12v!!!
I also ran 24v through both trim sols on an old Black Max plus 24v to the engine starter for 6-7 years with no problems!
I'm not saying that all will have this good of luck but I have!
