The're you have it, got the main components all shaped up, will eventually be a "Concept" of John's '71 Molinari Rude rig.
Gearcase turned out real well but I may have to shorten the centre section, as I remember they were short, fat, stumpy little feckers!
Cant find a decent picture anywhere on the net of a Vee4 OMC race motor, you can tell it's not a Merc anyway.
Proportions are about right, now onto the fiddly bits before I dismantle the whole shebang and leave it ready for John to paint !
was going to ship R/J's ROTORY, but he's ok to wait till November, way things are going I may need a 20' container to Tavares------Good name for a song dontcha think?
Here's a few photos of the OMC V4 race motors.

Many thanks for the snaps MNV4, I got it well wrong didn't I? The centre section is way off, it's nothing like I remembered, only the gear case is not far off. Will attack the motor and try to get it nearer the mark.
Also owe the two Johns an apology for getting 'em mixed up, you'll have to put it down to senility but with enthusiasm, 'twas Willabee that pointed out the errors of my ways. Sincere apologies to both Johns, (Sherlock and Schubert).
Had an "Enthusiastic" bank holiday weekend in the shop, no glitches for a change, no visitors, no rush, just get on with the Job in hand, stops me from deep thinking. Try not to go down that road too often! Rest of the world back to NORMAL,whatever that is.
Lets see what the leprechauns have in store for us today!
Another stellar day in the shop, Gods got the hump with somebody today, rain and 60mph. Winds
I lumbered on with the Molli, gave it the final glue up. Decided the rude I made was better than the one they raced, hells teeth, it's only a concept anyway.
Are you making the all conquering 2.0 ltr race engine?
Its not possible to improve on that!
I got ten of those on the shelf Pilgrim, getting better each day, the power head don't look like a lump of firewood any more, mid section looks like it's by design and not accident!
Gary sent me over a bunch of race props so we're cooking with acetylene . Putting both the White wings in the same frame, remember 7000 & 700. Nearly finished John Sherlocks 17' Molinari / Evinrude ------looks half tidy too.
You wanna buy a wing or a Molli I got eight of each, go for a later model, I got better as I went along, same with the motors, I actually think I made the Jonrude that OMC "TRIED" to make, they were never "Pretty or even fair looking pieces of kit were they?
Mine has changed all that-----J/S is doing the paint job so the finished product should be interesting.

"Clash of the titewings "?
Moments after this was taken, the whole lot wound up on the floor with a fair amount of damage to both wings, got a days work tomorrow doing a repair job !
I always had a butterfly mind and I had a sudden idea of how to do the stacks on the lathe out of solid so I had to do it there and then, made the first pipe then polished it, the vibration disturbed the wings and the result was a days repair!
Some you win, some you lose, sometimes you just get bloody careless as was the case today.
A very large CC7 eased the pain.
Is that not the best looking Race Rude ever, it's as they mighta been,
Got to thinking about Pilgrims comment on the all conquering 2 liter Merc, I suppose it is the basis for most rigs of the sixties and seventies and so I made a fairly simple concept.
Thats what I was into when the wings fell ofn the workbench, typical that I should start arse backwards and do the stack pipes first, did shape the power head and finish two megas before closing time.
Also decided not to put the White wings together but mount them separately facing each other, it's just an idea!
Daughter Sam is going to ship the pieces to Marks shop anytime soon, I need the space and I don't want to leave it 'till the last minute!
Do you realise, time flies when your having fun, we are half way in the year since the November Tavares . I'd better get a wriggle on, got a head full of ideas I want to try out, plus I have to build a lean to addition at the back of the pool room which is now my showroom, as I still have the grass cutter and garden tools in there, I need them out so I can fit more shelving.
Wet,wild and windy is today's forecast, tomorrow the nation goes to the polls to decide who rules for the next five years, there's a lot to be said for a two party system, but there's a lot of folk don't like either of their policies so a third option is necessary , but we have a system where as many as ten candidates contest the same seat, ridiculous!
My bet is Cameron to win with a tiny fragile majority!
Labour to lose most of the their Scottish seats.
SNP to become a right pain in the arse.
UKIP get a thrashing and gain nothing.
Greens lose the only seat they got.
take it to the bookies you'll get 10/1 on that forecast.
the shop is calling, see if I can post you a piccie lunchtime.
I meant the omc 2.0 ltr
They always claimed they didn't have one. Velden did come second in Germany in the first heat, he never made the start of the second heat. OMC never did like a level playing field!
They did have a great 850 cc motor for the E class, Mercury couldn't live with it !
Lasse pasted the results, it did win a series and a few races I thought, then they packed it up and got on with the cross flow and that was that till the V8
Parkinson and I ran the FONDA F1 series for a year until OMC BOUGHT the series, then we ran FONDA GRAND PRIX SERIES for another 10 years and in all that time OMC,
never won a single race! Ask Lassie all you want, I saw damn near every race, OMC drivers were told to stay away.
By the way, it was OMC that told their drivers to stay away, we welcomed any colour, creed or country as long as it had a max of two liters.
South Africa had a shed load of Jonrudes and they all came out to play, they didn't win, but they put up a hell of a show.
You got the same sort of split in offshore, I tell you what, it wants sorting, and quick or they will end up like the circuit boats.
doesn't anyone get the message here, 100 -----200 offshore boats for a poker run, twenty five for an offshore event split into classes of three to five boats. More bitching than even Mercury and OMC ever dreamed up.
Our Lord and masters in the form of theUIM and APBA should be leaping about legislating, pleading, begging, getting the sports elders to come on board and help sort it!
Unfortunately, it ain't never going to happen.
Unattainable rules and regs and the costs that go with it have seen the decline in boat racing as we knew it, would be a shame if offshore went down the same tube.
If you think I'm talking out of my rectum, take a look at The KenWarby situation! The one man in the world who KNOWS record breaking is hog tied to the jetty by an unattainable list of rules and regs set by the UIM.
I VERY MUCH DOUBT THERE WILL EVER BE ANOTHER WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT,
Update on he Rude/Molli combo for John Schubert, coming along nicely.
That's my new look concept of a straight six with pipes, it's in English oak, Aluminum cav plate and Gearcase, decided earlier efforts were a bit mundane, so I'm trying to get a bit of character into the lump. Nothing ventured and all that !!!
Only minor damage, few paint chips, got an idea on the mounts, will play it by ear
Thursday again, car boot sale at Ford. Talk later.
the one in the background reminds me of this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZD3OICzTAs
Pilgrim, I give you ten to one that's an American design from twenty years ago the russkies nicked and thought they were smart.
U.S. Navy is light years ahead of anyone in flight and marine propulsion, they don't need to "emulate" anyone.
All you got to do is be grateful !
Oh yes, the "Thang" in the background is a piss take "Concept" of Warbys Wonder.
Been a slow old sort of day, renewed all the hoses and fittings from the compressor, misplaced the gun. Eventually found it on the top shelf of Uncle Dens cupboard where I placed it for safe keeping then forgot where I put it. Blasted compressor used to fire up about 2am which really ticked off her sleeping next to me. Thought discretion the better part of------didn't push my luck to the limit.
Jilly's off to the Tate gallery in London for the day tomorrow so I am taking a day off and visiting a bunch of my old friends. Will meet Her for dinner at "The Stag" in Balls Cross.
finished off the second straight six with pipes, they look kinda nice up on the shelf next to the ROTORIES and Rudes----have to get away from the nautical theme.
Tim Thipadeaux posted a picture of one of the Chinky made Vee 8 Rudes, it looks superb, I think they sell for around $35, downside is they're feckin Plastic, was tempted to stick a couple of The Chink Mercs on a wing, but somehow it doesn't seem to sit well with the way I do things. Anyway a couple of those things and two race props tops the $100 mark before I even open the shop, that's a no brainer!
Gary is an aircraft fruit and nut basket case and collects all things to do with planes so I picked up a Kelvin Altimeter at the car boot today, also bought a Jasmine and two "Trumpets of Jericho" bushes. Give me something to do over the weekend.
Poling stations closed ten minutes ago, Cameron to win, but will have to deal with one (or more) of the pleb parties ------that's a done deal!
Watch this page in about 8 hours, I could be chewing on my left foot, but I don't think so!
Thats it for tonight folks, thanks for your company, MYGGWY. J.
Its a plane not a boat, with aircraft the ruskies did have a few bits of techology up their sleeve the USA didnt.
How long did it take the US to work out how to make a verctored thrust engine in a fighter for example
Yes grateful to the USN otherwise I would be speaking Japanese and my first v8 car would have been a Lexus
PS looking at election results the Brits must be getting more educated?
Not sure what will happen in OZ with a black hole as big as the UK's
Shoulda put money on my forecast, got it ALL correct!
Now Cameron should have a Referendum to see if WE want to keep the Scots, you need big balls to call that, he doesn't have them!
SNP have replaced the Lib-dems, who are now a defunct party.
Wont be long before North Sea Oil runs out and the Scots hold out the begging bowl again, God made it and forgot it ! Only the English kept bailing them out. End of politics for another five years!
Day off today, not even opening the shop.

Berts thing, I am pretty sure was an iron block and it was on his CCC mid, in a straight line potent, I actually think he said it was dangerous on the corners.
Saying that a modern LS chev that are aluminium are about the same weight as the F1 v8 so maybe there is some potential in that?
I have only seen one photo of Bert's thing, legendary really.
There is a photo on the web of someone that grafted to old OMC 60's V4's together hence the first V8 I guess
Glenn Curtis was building motorcycle engines--moved on to airplanes quickly---OX-5 was a V-8----
"The basic design had slowly expanded by adding additional cylinders until they reached the V-8 in 1906. They also started enlarging the cylinders as well, but this led to cooling problems"
Wow, so we have a Tory government with a clear overall majority, Even Cameron could not have dreamed that one, it's taken away any excuse he may have had before about both hands being tied .
Had a good day visiting some of my old friends, never went near the shop today. Got those special race props from Gary today, they are beautiful and like all beautiful things , wildly expensive.
Even got the big diameter cleavers, they will look superb on the "Ermintrude and Johnrude", post you a piccy tomorrow.
Gene and the "Pildrim"sharing lots of info on the early v8s, great stuff, keep it coming.
Is that right your heading for Bristol on June 6th pilgrim!
Renato is supposed to be going, Jenks, Tony Williams, Pelle Brolin. Michael Werner, you can read for yourself the full list of entrants on the ---Fast on water site
Right, first things first, have a bunch of motors without props, will rectify that first, take a piccy or two so you can see why I was so keen to get the real Mcoy.
Then it's clean up time, the shop looks like the bottom of a baby's pram again, when I get in the groove and get a real hustle on with snot and shavings and sawdust all over the hog market, I don't have time to sweep up and dust down so it accumulates into a mess.
Saturday again, got a bunch of shrubs and plants to to dig in, I just know that by lunchtime I'll have a back that's killing me, why does a 75 liter bag of compost seem to weigh twice as much these days? Talk later, j.
Almost forgot it's the Spanish GP this weekend, been too tied up with my own life and general election to contend with to worry how Hamilton is faring. About to take my daily forty winks then I might get to watch Qualifying. I'll be back, jack.
Lewis fluffed his lines, he's on the front row so it's not all bad, all he has to do is finish.
Barcelona is not a good place for overtaking, see what happens!
managed to mount the sprint Molli, now we have a matched pair, a17' and a 16', take your pick John or take 'em both if you want!
Called in to see my daughter "Boo" during my travels yesterday, she asked if I would make her a round bedside lamp, told her I didn't have time to fart about doing lamps and I was knee deep in wings, molli's and Jonrudes---------anyway , here it TIS .. Just a sucker when it comes to my kids.
Peter Ustinov had a Hispana Suiza for donkeys years, he placed it in a French garage for a full restoration, they fleeced him something rotten, he never ever got the car back, just saying, no reason, just something I knew about !
never did get around to cleaning the shop, had one of those Hazy lazy days, Jilly wanted a hand in the garden, went to the garden centre and bought a weeks pensions worth of begonias, petunias, dahlias and fuscias -------10 x 75 liter bags of compost, new pots etc, that's on top of the stuff I bought at Ford. I can feel more backache approaching. May have to lock the workshop from the inside and play doggo?
If John wants the pair of Molli's then I have another "Ermintrude to construct.
The beautiful props Gary sent me were too big, even for the V8 and Rotory, but he sent me a couple of smaller ones that work just fine.
Gradually getting on top of things, if I get out there early today I could get most things done AND watch the Spanish GP.
Hey Stavros ! Long time no hear, you ok and up and running on all cylinders again, are you over the celebrations?
Bill, any idea where Earl is these days, last I heard he was up in Tennessee buying a mountain.
Will get Bobby H s address from Mark or Craig, I know they speak occasionally !
That's the Sunday morning sermon out the way so get out there and enjoy life I am, J.
