I got this picture from a friend of mine in Denmark a few years ago.
Its from the 1973 Scandinavian SE Class championship race in Holbęk, Denmark.
I remember this race very well.. mostly because the heavy rainstorm all weekend.
The black dots in the picture is rain.. and the visor was fogging up bad..I was forced to remove it and finish the race without eye protection..
Its the pain I remember most..winning is not always easy..!!..:):)

The Evinrude 65SS engine was only sold 1973. A special outboard made by OMC to win in the UIM SE class.
(Yes..it was legal)
Good enough to beat the Merc, Carniti, Konig and some Chrysler.
You can see the shift level on the mid section and the X-115 gear case.
Not sure if the Johnson was called SS or not.
I don't think OMC sold this engine in the USA.
Most of those engines was returned to OMC after the 1973 season.
The 1974 OMC UIM SE class engine was way better..10 to 15 MPH faster.

I'm confident that none of these ever made it to the USA. Merc never had a "return policy" either unless you were part of a hand-picked group of drivers/owners or part of the factory team.Quote:
