BERNES STEAKHOUSE...WoW..such a nice restraunt in such a nasty neighborhood...bring a SPEARGUN for shure...have fun...was there years ago, visit the wine cellar and cigar bar, very cool place...HaHa...
Its all in Mr. Powells hands now. Looks like he is just going to take my old tiller/swivel tube and cut it down for the new length. That way he can look at the bushings and make sure everything is good to go. Its going to be close on having this back together for Sebring in a few weeks as he has a lot of work there and I still have to paint and assemble it when he is done.
Looks like the motor is going right on the transom first. I cant mount it low enough and use the jack plate without modding the jackplate so Ill try right on the transom first.
With the engine as low as I can mount it without notching the transom (using second to lowest holes) it right about were it was on the jackplate. The bracket will be 1-1/2 closer but the prop will be 1/2" further back due to the setback built into the new mid.
Im going to try it like this then if it needs to go up a little Ill slot the mounting holes. If it needs to go down more than a 1/4", Ill have to break out he grinder and gel coat.
Total weight savings between the short mid and no jackplate is just over 30 pounds. I have no idea how this will work out. I have a smaller prop that ran a top speed of 85mph the day before I took it apart so I have a good baseline to compare to when its back together.
Motor is going to be slammed

You know Chris you need to talk to Jim at Aeromarine. You do things in a very systematic way keep track of all your changes. You have good accurate numbers as far as weights, measurements and speed rpm etc go. Think his TBDP would be a good thing for you to have and use as if you put real accurate info in you will get pretty acccurate predicions as far as speed and stability go. Could save you some time and get you closer to the end result your after. Think Jim would have a hoot with your ride. It still blows my mind.

I may do that. Just for giggles, I punched my numbers into BAM Marines speed calculator and I only need 22 more HP to 100mph. Considering my port height is stock that wouldnt be too hard to accomplish if I actually wanted to go that fast.
Im also going to try a different set of heads with the stock angle to the squish band when I have it back together. Hoping I get a little more bottom end. The current heads have more angle to the squish and I have always wondered if its hurting bottom end a little and I need more down there.
Almost ready to start putting the pieces back together. Paint came out out awesome.
Im sure there will be a headache along the way but at least I have all the parts now.

Headaches already. I have a VERY small leak when I leave it up on the trim ram. I got a seal kit since I have it apart and cant get this dan cap off. Made a tool and bent it trying. Might have to run it over to my Yamaha shop and pay them to use the right tool to break it loose or buy one.
Its only been on there for 14 years. Cant imagine why it won't come off!

I have a Harbor Frieght nearby and might get one of these to see if it will work. Just hate to out any heat to it and do more harm then good. Only leaks a drip and only when I leave it off the trim rams which isnt often.

Once you heat it your pretty much doing the seals.

If you can't unscrew it with your hand your gonna bend the pins out of that hf pin wrench. Ask me how I know......
if u can't borrow the correct tool. Heat it with acetylene until you think it's gonna melt... Then keep heating it. Then the correct punch hit by a hammer will destroy the pin holes but remove the cap in short order.
We Just put a buddy's clamp together an hour ago it was the one Marty finished right before yours. Feels tight and looks great going on a modvp stv.
I deal with a drip before I torch it and have to repaint etc.
Its apart now. I hate doing chit twice... Been there, done that, got the T-shirt :leaving:
