Looking at Navispeeds 01 I found some a difference on the hulls.Some time after 98 they added a small lip on the further most strake when looking at the side.From what I can tell that helped eliminate the porpoise the the 94-98 at least hulls had.I believe thats why the newer hulls can get away with vastly smaller or no trim tabs at all.On 94 to 98 at least hulls they seem to need much larger trim tabs.I have 12X9 and there not nearly enuff,the boat porpoises from 35-50 unless its trimed down or completely trimed out and wide open.What size trim tabs and on the 94 and up STEPP hulls are you running.The earlier boats are alot lighter and probably not effected as much.

Prop is a 26P 4 blade by Percision Propeller. It's lighter than a Bravo and weighs about the same as a Trophy,,,but because of the diameter, it works great on my set-up. It really digs and pulls the bow up with the set back. I am very happy with it...

Also, my hull, like Mike's has the very thin top deck...1996 hull, bullet is about 2 1/2 below the pad. 1:75 ratio.

Try a 26 trophy... About 3mph faster than a 26 raker.... And alot more bow lift. Guys just remember a boat in fresh water is usually around 2-3 mph slower than a boat in salt water... Something on how the boat carries. Mikey nice shots!!!

Fresh water is less dense then saltwater. The water density helps support the weight of the boat better when floating, and also allows the prop to bight harder, which is why slatwater runs faster. Also alot of lakes have higher elevation then sea level which creates a slight power loss issue as well!

We boat at sea level,both salt and fresh water.On a small padded bottom boat you wont see a 3mph difference.Youd have a better chance see a difference with the current.The cruiseing speeds may be a bit faster in salt,simply becouse more of the boats in the water.The difference is very small when only the pad and prop are in the water.

Mikey large when you were at Sacandaga you lost quite a few mph's right as compared to runnin on Long Island? Thanks for explaining the water differences. The last Romp the air quality was horrible for makin power.

I agree air makes a huge difference.I usualy try to test first thing in the morning at a lake neer us.Its at 150ft so altitude isnt a problem,and I seem to get the best numbers there.

With my dad and fuel in the boat, she ran like a pig. I was getting 73-74 and the boat just felt stuck to the water. Back home with my dad in teh boat i can run 77-78 any day. Towards the end of teh day we were messing around and I was almost out of gas. With about 10 gallons in teh tank, and without my dad i put a 78 mph pass down at the lake. The altitude combined with the freshwater definately makes a huge speed and acceleration difference.

Anyone remember an all blue gelcoat 22 O/B race boat from the mid-80's, called Captain Maintained? Bill Kaye raced it out of Chicago and was national champion for three years in a row in the class. Wonder if anyone has video of this boat racing, on YouTube?

I remember seeing pictures of it. A friend of mine had it in a calender of offshore race boats years ago. Would love to see video of it running.

I would too. There is some incredible original tape out there, of the boat going...where no man has gone before...lol

Mikey I saw 81 the other day with a nice chop and 80 degrees fresh water and a 1/2 tank of gas. I must agree that last romp was not a good day for power.
