May not look much like a tunnel but it's a start, Mahogony sponsons, Oak deck and Acacia for the cockpit, if it all gets a bit too Woodified I can always paint it black. First attempt Mark, you may not get this one, it will probably wind up in the shed.

So now you are cobbling (as you put it) a guy, who got sponsored by the same department store that promised to sponsor your team, this Sprint Moli that you raced ...then he raced ....many years before..... hmmm.. pretty crazy stuff. Given one of those two drivers that you had lined up for the Fonda race may have been your son, who shares the same name with me, is a bit strange too... At the end of the day, a "Mark" did drive at Seville in '85, just not the one you likely had in mind. Johnno, there are three blocks of wood ready to cobble into a Rotary.
I stitched the residue of Walnut together, the other two are spalted beech, but the one I finally do for you will be something you recognise. Don't you just love surprises.

Easter Saturday and all's well with the world from my side of the bed, it may be chucking it down outside but I just had my early morning cuppa brought up, slept like a log. Wonder where that quotation originated ?
Had one of those impromptu dinners with my next door neighbours and other folk from further down the lane, it was one of those perfect evenings, good friends, good food, good wine, it only. Took me near 80years to find the perfect place to live.
Decided to visit my oldest friend today, Adam LASZCZAR, first met him on a building site in 1955.
We hit it off together immediately----I gradually learned over the years that as a boy growing up in Warsaw, when Germany invaded Poland, he lost both his parents, so him and his twelve year old elder brother armed with a sling shot and a compass walked from Warsaw to Columbo in Ceylon.
Look it up on a map and you will see what an epic journey that was.
Will also call in and see some of my family and friends----going on my own as Jilly is babysitting the latest in grand daughters.
So my friends easter Saturday 2015, I'm alive and well, happy as Larry ( whoever he was) and about to enjoy life to the full today, like I do most days!
Won't get into the shop until late afternoon------still have a molinari sprint and a walnut wing to attend to-------have a wonderful easter. j.
We have one set of the kids this weekend also. Have to work at the sport store today, but off tomorrow. Big Easter dinner planed with 2 sets of kids and grandkids. Jackie; you forgot I worked with wood most of my young like. Mostly walnut and various types of maple. Some oak and birch also.
So, is this your roundabout way of telling me you would prefer the Walnut ?

This is is my lifelong friend Adam LASZCZAR.
When he was four years old he was put in a cattle truck and driven with fifty others to the railhead at Kiev and put on a train to Siberia
I had six hours with him today and finally got told the full story---honest to God, it makes the great escape seem like a trip to the beach.
Now I know this has got sod all to do with S&F so I might have to wait until Tavares to narrate this tale----lets see how the plot unfolds.
Never did get into the shop today but should have a full day in there on Sunday.

Sallied forth into the workshop, first thing I saw was the birth of a little concept Molinari saying ME,ME ME, so I spent the morning learning a lot about what Not to do. Got it licked now,

Glued up up the real Mcoy for Mark, will crack on with it in the morning.
That's the walnut wing "in progress"as they say.
The walnut ROTORY never even got a look in today, even though I had a clear uninterrupted five hours in the shop.
Was a bit stumped at where exactly to begin with the little Molinari----had a couple of false starts to kick off with, then did the cockpit and cowl on the lathe, sliced it in half and decided Acacia is totally the wrong wood, I also should stitch the cockpit to the deck BEFORE putting the curves there.
In the end I learned a lot of what NOT to do.
Quietly confident I can do a passable concept for you Mark!
Hey Johnno, is it true there were only six ROTORY motors ever built !? If that's true----then I've built as many as you did, right now I have six in various guises kicking around the shop.
Promise you, the one I send you will blow your mind, I have the final motor all figured out, it's much better than a conception but will still cost you a bottle of single malt.
Will make enough money OUTA the other five to cover costs, sold one already at $150 + postage, he offered to buy it at that-----had to say yes didn't I ?
With the walnut wing, I'm trying an oak wing with the walnut sponsons----first time I've tried this, if it all turns to worms, I'll go back to bending stainless, it's a damn sight easier than shaping oak.
Had time to change the planer blades and sharpen the spokeshave, have to say though, stuff takes a lot longer to do these days-----or maybe I just slowed more than I think I have.
Enjoyed Easter up to now, last day tomorrow , we have guests for lunch so that'll screw up the day, but I enjoyed the break, that's the last of the ramblings for today, shall inflict the same punishment on you tomorrow! Sleep in peace, MYGGWY.J.
It's 6:30 am and we finally got clear blue skies with a forecast for sunshine and a high of 65.
It always seems to rain on bank holiday in England and the day after to be fine and warm, wonder why?
Must have overdone the cordless power tool shoving, got myself an aching shoulder muscle which plagued the life out of me last night, think I finally nailed it with some "ASPERINE HEAT CREAM", bought it in Florida last fall!
Better start putting the finishing touches to a few of the projects I have on the go, the shop floor looks like the floor of one of those Arizona whore and steak houses PRUETT introduced me to, sawdust and steak bones!
Nearly seven and I'm still in bed punching the iPad-----talk later, maybe a piccy or two if I'm feeling benevolent.J.
Been cooking with gas this morning------shaped up R/J's walnut ROTORY-----it's turned out a fair bit larger which suits me fine, I can put a bigger gear case and takes bit more time with it, better for the steering bar too.
just gluing the sponsons to the deck on the sprint Molly , made an alternate oak cockpit /cowling just in case he don't like the mogany one.

May at nor look like much but there's two full days work there-- it worked out to be a pre 70/s 17' Molly and a 16' Sprint with the ROTORY beginning to take shape.
Deck and sponsons came together ok but had to cobble together four different cockpit and rear cowls before they finally came together, got the tumble home on the decks just about right, it's getting better by the minute.
Doesnt have to be a replica I only do concepts, Will make a special effort with the motors and gear cases.

This is is the mogany ROTORY Johnno, start the gear case for it tomorrow, will try and do the three of em in one day. Bet I got sore fingers by lunchtime.
If it's a sunny day again I want to get the top coat of white on WARBY'S boat, it's been hanging around the shop for far too long.
Sam gets back from the Far East tonight, have to find a spare suitcase to pack Rogers wing and a couple of ROTORIES, one I sold and the other is R/J's.
Craig got hisself a new toy-----a 21' Pontoon with a biggish Yammi to push it along, as long as he has my CC and some ice, he can take me for a ride!

Johnno, the one on the left looks ok but hasn't got the character of a 17'FootMolinari ,
Pulled the sponsons off'n the sprint and started again, now it looks like a little MOLLY.
The cockpit/cowling delaminated after using that blasted gorilla ticky tacky crap so I had to re glue it, will stitch it all together in the morning.
Made a superb bottom end for Johnnos ROTORY----Have to tell you, it is looking Orgasmically knicker wettingly excellent. Think I can modestly say it's turned out nice!
Mark, your little sprint really does bear a passing resemblance to the boat we both once owned.
You want a straight six on its bum, did you ever run it with pipes ?
Do you want it in natural oak and magony or painted black, you can do the black bit, but if you want it aux naturale I will wax polish it!
Tempted to paint the 17' footer red which is how most of them left the factory, what do you think ?
Been without the hearing device for the last week, finally got kitted out with a new one and can once again hear the birds singing, the frogs farting and Jilly complaining !
Never did get around to putting the finish coat on Warbys wonder, maybe get time tomorrow, seem to have been doing the blue arsed fly bit without actually having any tangible evidence to say I have been getting a wriggle on.

I Too have been hanging out with the West Sussex wild life here in Walburton, I have MURPHY our adopted mini feline-----more wildcat than any Puma or Lynx, Cougar or Cheetah.
Living right next door is "Dangerman Dickie Durdle" (bad assed builder).
On my right I have Stevie ( Stavros.)Horton! Who has 13 acres of woodland and three trout lakes and sings like Elvis.
So you see Mark, I live in my own little "Costa del Walburton " just poke my head OUTA the door and I'm living the dream.
We have several pairs of Buzzards living in Steves garden------driving down the lane last Saturday, this big old but beautiful male buzzard started to dive bomb the Lexus, made three passes, filled the windscreen------and before you ask, no, I had done nothing to provoke him except move in next door nearly four years ago.
Simply pointing out, it all happens here in Walburton.
Put the cavitation plate and gear case on the ROTORY-----have to tell you Johhno, it really is beginning to look the part----this walnut rotor motor looks like a beast .
The sprint Molli looks so much better with deeper sponsons, I've decided to do the 17' likewise.
