The European E class must have been great. Having spent most of my time racing E class in APBA I am sure I would have loved running those boats.

Well thanks 2us70,
The UIM OE/F3 class was extremely popular and we used Methanol for more power/speed.
OMC was late with the Methanol kit 1981 so I built my own.
We also modified the gearcase to a single pinion instead of two.
Much better acceleration and top speed but the single pinion was only good for a few hours.
Over here E class was limited to stock production motors with standard gear cases. Up through 1970 the 44in Mercury 50 was the motor of choice. With the 44s the completion speeds were about 58mph. The 3cyl 49in motors that replaced the 44s quickly brought the speeds up into the 70mph range in the Sport class and lower 60s in the Production class.
OK, the UIM SE class was the same way. Started in the SE class and stepped up to the faster OE class.
The Winners are..Renato Molinari F1-OZ – Billy Seebold F2-ON – Lasse Strom F3-OE.
The John Player GP at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.. UK was one of my favorite race sites.
Tight but nice and straight..two point race course..1981 was my second time racing here so my home work was done the right way finally..
Bob Brister / Waterskier and Powercraft is pretty good reading..

We are now back in Nottingham, UK for the 1982 John Player GP at Holme Pierrepont.
Same great race course..well.. different winner in two classes..but not in the F3-OE.
Lots of fun at the fancy dress party..The Brits are pretty crazy in a fun way some times..!!!!!
The best news for me is from Bryan Scott and his dad Simon..I asked for pictures and look what they found..The white # 1 Burgess in the start, race and back to the pit.
Thanks a lot to the Scott family and BCS Racing Images..
The Powerboat & Waterskiing report is done by Andrew Bill..Thank you to.

My Swedish friend Ulf Backman drove all the 6 hours in Paris by himself. I think it was 1970.
Molinari/Evinrude V4 Starflite.
Ulf was a Scandinavian Airline (SAS) commercial pilot.

What was it like driving that pickup with the f3 on top when in a cross wind?
No problem..we drove wide open thru Germany but needed slow down a bit over the Alps. In Europe there is a speed limit pulling a trailer but no speed limit with the boat on the pick up bed. I used up two brand new Mazda pick ups one summer. The engine blow up but covered by warranty..
Here is the red one. We where also fully loaded on the bed..two tanks with Methanol, tools, spare parts, powerheads and gearcases.
Yes it is Ric McChesney next to me in the blue jacket looking down.

And a fire extinguisher...
HeeHee no..you can put out Methanol fire with water. Works perfect.
The year after I purchased a big truck for my F1-V8 race program. A lot slower but I guess safer. We left the truck at OMC, Belgium between the races instead of bringing it back the Sweden all the time.
To bad I don't have more and better pictures. A real workbench inside the truck box and spare powerheads, gearcases, generator toolboxes etc..Yes a fire extinguisher.

This picture from the 1982 Drammen, Norway F1-V8 race is interesting.
If you close you can see a black #191 Molinari. Yes its Jimbo McConnell and I am pretty sure its the same black Molinari Jimbo drove in Pittsburgh same year.
