The auction today at the former Evinrude Test Center in Stuart is not a BRP event.
The test center was sold Sept.1 2020 in as-is condition, with all materials left there (which was most everything)
As such, the auction is being conducted by/for the new owner, who is selling his merchandise.

No. Both engine failed the rotor bearing due to being set extremely lean causing the bearing to overheat. Jimbo lasted 1 1/2 laps, Tommy ran for about 45 min. As I said before, the rotary never failed a gear case.Quote:

Ulf Backman must have been using a customer bought V4 engine with no powertrim only 2 customer V4 engines came to UK in 1970 l had a Johnson and James Beard had a Evinrude both without powertrim.Looking at the Factory V4 engines they ran much higher compression the heads looked to have at least 200 thou off compared with the stock V4 engines.In the UK in 1970 they cost £1200.at that time.Quote:

Mr. Backman was a bit upset in Paris 1970..OMC did not have enough power trim kits and he did not get one. (Only OMC factory drivers)
Mr. Backman drove the 6 hours without power trim and got out of International ON class racing.

There was also a Johnson Stinger V4 in Sweden 1970. Purchased by Ulf Jansson for his new Schulze the ON class cat.
Same story..Ulf did not get a powertrim from OMC that year..I think he got a kit for 1971..!!
OMC really did handle the private ON drivers poorly at that time.
At that time i was upset that i purchased a racing V4 engine they never told me it was the cooking version which E P Barrus told me it was designed to last a full season of racing not for a few races as the factory versions were .To convert to a powertrim and up and down version would be a complete mid section with all the hydraulics.By 1972 i was driving a factory version anyway.Quote:
