hello and thank you for f1 v8, is it same circuit in London 2018 f1h2o? the public had a very good view, mickael
My first year (1983) in the F1-V8 series started up pretty tough.
Lake Como May 14-15 was flooded rainy and windy..the race was run under very difficult conditions.
Next race was in Ampolla, Spain south of Barcelona May 28-29 . I could not believe it when we got there with my race truck.
The race course was on the open unprotected water of the Mediterranean..We could not even practice because of the large 3 to 4 feet waves. I remember they forced the F3 class to race and my brother Lennart won.
The F1-V8 race in Ampolla was canceled.
First picture is the race course the second the 1983 F1-V8 calendar.

oh coool, i search the calendar, position race, points table f1 v8 1983 1984 1985 but 1986 1987 1988 1989 it's more difficult for me because the championship v8 f1 just in usa, not press tv or book, in france, next time i'll show you my archive book f1v8 with some pitures, mickael

Thanks Per Benson.

Reference: Post #2015 - Pictured is a 3.3L "more modern" Looper sitting beside a CCC. There is over 4" difference in the height as well as the depth of these motors. Look at the carbs and see the bore centerline difference. This looper has Dave Bush's sleeve and piston kit installed, CCC carbs on a Wayne Taylor X-Front, and Yamaha ignition. The CCC will adorn Mark Rotharmel's Canadian Motor Sport Hall of Fame inductee boat and turn the display motor into a REAL motor. HP and Torque on the Looper is scary. Will have to drive it in Vintage with restraint! Just ignore the Mercury's in the background (2.4 Carb + 2.0 EFI) as they go on Paul Heathman's Miller American hull built by Jim Caldwell.

Yes, for most people it is hard to imgine a time before Mercurys, but there was even a time before Evinrude racing motors as well.
The motors from this race in 1948 would most likely be almost 10 years old and some would have been older. Evinrude stopped making racing motors in 1942 and didn't make any more racers until 1967.
The Jacoby, Neal and Crandall boats listed would have been made in the US.
Thanks Mark75H
1948 was a big year for Swedish boat racing.
On February 28/29 1948 Gunnar Falej founded the Swedish Powerboat Federation known as SVERA.
Seventy years ago.
Again.. Thank you to Per Benson.

What kind of motor was a "Trim" ?
This is way before me but I think Trim was a Swedish built outboard.

waouh, thank you very much for vidoli, do you have an idea of the speed ?
Well..the F1-V8 race in Lyon, France was always rough FUJIMO..similar river and seawalls as Paris 6 Hours.
The great Italian F1-V8 racer Kicco Vidoli.
So many very good memories from racing Kicco in the F3 and the F1-V8 class.
A gentleman and a very tough driver. Always with a smile on his face.
Kicco won in F3 and F1-V8 1985 driving the #19 Molinari/Nordica/Evinrude V8.
We lost Kicco a few years ago in a boating accident but he will always be remembered as a good friend.
A mix of pictures.

Lasse, did you ever race at Arendal in Sweden? The county where I live in Maryland is named after Anne of Arendal who became an English princess.
First Mark75H, Thank you for the Trim info. I know you are so good at racing/outboard history long time ago.
Next..when you write Arendal its Norway to me..Arendal, Norway is famous for Offshore racing. I have never raced there.
Maybe there is an Arendal in Sweden but not sure.
I did a story years ago about my racing in Norway..Swedish only but Google is pretty good now.

Did Bob Herring ever race in F1 v8?
Did he ever set any speed records in F1 v8 tunnel boats?
The answer is yes to boat of your questions.
Bob Hering built his own F1-V8 boats. Not sure if the #45 is wood or aluminum but it is a Hering boat with Evinrude F1-V8
https://www.screamandfly.com/attachm...4&d=1520514975
how about the speed records?
I have a long newspaper story about Bob Hering's record 1986, but cant find it now. I think he run 169 MPH.
This is the boat.
