Jackie - These are not as nice as the one you have pictured, but might be more affordable. These come in a set of two. One right hand and one left hand rotation and they are functional running motors 1-1/2 volt DC. The set costs $36.80 and shipping to you would be $15.00. That is a total of $51.80 for the set delivered.

Pity about the props though------they do look a bit like a dustbin lid.

BobV, I buy a lot of stuff on EBay and look through it every day, this time when I went to order the outboards, they want my password which I can't for the life in me remember. After half a dozen attempts I gave it up as a bad job. Haven't got time to fart about with passwords, why the hell can't I have a password that is recogniseable to everyone and peculiar to me.
Had a mad fit of depression yesterday afternoon and set to on the pool changing room (another name for the garden shed). Threw out tons of junk, a rocking chair I got given for my 50th birthday, and boxes of crockery and cutlery. Put up a couple of shelves and cleared my workshop of all the pieces I had hanging about. Turns out I have nearly a 100 of 'em.
Came across a painting of the Cosworth done by Dave Franks nearly 40 years ago.
Some me of he stuff I put in the shed.

Are they valuable ???? Well, let me say that the toy motor today is worth way more than the real original Merc 800 cost new back in 1960. Phill, did you know Diana Dors lived in the next village and was a regular visitor to the Garage?
Glass is smashed and the frame broken, may have to take it apart and construct a new frame, could hang it in the shop then.
Hamilton did the biz blitzing pole by a goodly margin, see if he can keep up the good work in the race proper.
England beat the Scots to take the Calcutta Cup, all they have to do next week is thrash the frogs at the Stade De Franciase in Paris.
Managed a full day on the Wings, made inroads-----Tried to make the gear case too small, failed miserably-----did the next one half as big again and it looks good------not great, but passable.
Put the first coat of black on all six of the outboards and hung ' em out to dry, same again tomorrow.
Half day tomorrow------Sunday lunch at the Hilton hotel right here in the village, tell you tomorrow what the foods like.
I just found mine its not the same. Its all white and has a plastic clip on not like your clamp bracket. ob-300 plastic made in japan. totally different now that I found it and took a look at it. Thanks for the info. Ill have to keep my eyes peeled for ones like yours!Quote:

Missed the Aussie GP but it was a bit of a procession by all accounts, things never change, if you got the right designer and the right engine at the right time, you got a world champion.
Had three good hours in the shop got another coat of black on the six motors, finished another gear case and cut out a piece of spalted beech for the other motor for Rogers big wing. If he wants them black he's going to have to do it himself.

A whole week without visitors (expected), Mother's Day over for another year and I don't do Father's Day--------clocks go back next week and the equinox is this week, that's when the days start to get longer than the nights,( just pointing out an item of interest, bugger all anyone can do about it , it happens).
Looking forward to an uninterrupted week in the shop, bit off as much as I can chew with the four wings and eight motors and gear cases as well as clearing out the garden shed, looks like a "studio" with over 100 pieces of nonsense scattered around the place.
I did put 3 shelves up all the way round ------just to put the items somewhere, anywhere as long as they were out of the shop, Jills utility room and the conservatoire. Just got WILLABEE'S choo-choo and a dozen of the larger items to find a home.
Might even get a few things finished this week, then I can have a tidy up, shop looks like the bottom of a baby's pram?

Got off to a flyer this morning, made a gear case for the 7000,painted the six motors black again, polished the rear cowlings again------just do not like epoxy finishes, much prefer beeswax and the lovely feel after the final coat. Will finish the spare wing first.
Bit of a disaster with the top cowling, remember i told you some of the Acacia had soft spots, turned out it was a bit more like "rotten", had to do an emergency vascectafillatechni, this is where my surgical skills come to the fore-----------bit of filler and a lot of hope-----will know tomorrow if it was successful----------IF IT DIES ,IT DIES.
Motors are looking good, fairly chuffed with the gear cases ----done five out of the eight-----a good polish covers a lot of evil.
Its dinner time, talk to you in about four hours .
Bit of a frustrating day really, ran out of white paint, used the last of my drum sanders, ran out of masking tape, normally I have a five year supply of everything-------don't do run out ofs.
Looked at the wings and decided " I don't like epoxy finish,",so I sanded all three boats back to bare timber and started from scratch.
Not a happy bunny, but I can stand up and be counted now, what's the point of doing something I'm not happy with.
Getting better at gear cases which means the motors come out better than they did, gave 'em their fifth coat of black, have condescended to buy Cleavers from the USA, $12 apiece but they will add a touch of class?
Talked with Mark and great grandson Aiden, reminded him I'd been retired eight years when I was his age--------that went down like a turd in a punchbowl! That's all I got for tonight, MYGGWY.J.
....it happens Jackie! had a big stash of "needed's" when I retired and am down to the last few thousand uv resistant tie wraps here in the garage.
I'm ok for tie wraps for the next 27 years, just ordered another 100 drum sander sleeves from " "XUAN HU" I think that's in Outer Mongolia--------cost me all of £4:99, same thing here in my local tool shop is £25. Still feel guilty buying chinky knock offs for next to nothing!Quote:

Jackie, do I remember you posting about driving a James Beard Cougar that had the "quirk" of not setting for corners and just floating merrily along until it felt like setting? I owned one built circa 1978 and it did the same thing. When it set it turned hard but when it floated it sure made the heart rate go up! Didn't even matter if you were stretched out or on a short course.

Blundered my way through the day, the White paint I slapped on the two wings was still tacky, far too slow for me, turned out it was ten years old and well past its sell by date!
Stripped the four hulls back to bare wood and started again, I learned that water based thixotropic is the way to go, touch dry in ten minutes and re coat in two hours, years since I painted anything.

EU was supposed to stem the Far East tide but made a right pigs ear of it, should have trebled the duty on everything coming in, the eastern block did it to EU imports, then subsidised all their exports until the tide became a flood. If we don't build an ark------we'll drown.
The Euro was supposed to unite, it maybe yet its downfall.
