I have the mold and laid up the seat
Any chance you could do the layup on the outer side of the mold, making the smooth side on the inside, the pic of your mold makes it look ambidextrus or however you spell it???
I think what your calling a mold is actually the plug that someone made to make a mold...at least that is how we used to make all of our seats/canopies/accessories etc. Just thought the outside being smooth looked nicer and whatever was being made could be made the same color as the boat (solid or flake).
Only thing left is to get the custome seat cover made sometime in January and fire this beast up. Calling this project completed as far as this thread goes. Appreciate all the interest and comments. Will be my last boat project for a while, got a couple of special motor projects up next that will take a couple of years probably.
HOWEVER I will be looking for the next candidate for a restoration... :)
Thanks again !!!!!!
and a few more pics.......
Looks great! Did you make the mold off a seat you already had or did you make a mold from scratch?
Mold was given to me
Looks great! Fantastic work!
Great job Tom, looks great...can't wait to here how it runs. Should be a fun ride for ya. I started another project a year ago but blew out my shoulder and need a shoulder replacement so that put my project on hold for awhile...have another boat in my sights too. Hope I don't get too old and feeble to finish them...lol. Look forward to your next project.
https://www.screamandfly.com/attachm...8&d=1577381779 Cool beans Tom. Really looks nice. You by any chance a lefty?
Not a lefty. Shifter mounted to the left so when you exit the boat turning left you don’t get caught on it.
Well done. Love seeing a vintage boat brought back with a nice restore.
Last finishing touch. Original Vampire Boat embroidered patch i got from the original owner / driver Jim Smith. Color this project done.......
Very cool. I admire the originality you create in your restorations. No one these days, goes to the extent you do. Some try, but just don't get there, like you do.:thumbsup:https://www.screamandfly.com/attachm...9&d=1578763794
Looking good whens the maiden voyage? Also what gun did you use to shoot awlcraft? and tip size?
No clue on the gun jet size. Was a low pressure gravity feed set up.
splash date is tbd. Plan to start it this week and do some tweaking.
Slightly off subject, when is the next March meet in Tavares, Fl.??? Thanks, Mark
Www.fvrc.club to keep up with the schedule for the vintage raceboat events
Custom canvas in place. THIS is the end of this thread.. Thanks everyone for your interest. Tom
And another thing, who decided to change the date of the Florida Race Boat club dates, it was very convenient to do Bike Week at Daytona and then do the races on the last week end of Bike week???
It's been a pleasure following along. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy it!
Two last questions, first, have you splashed it yet, any pics and second, somewhat off topic, if you have a grungy in-line six, what/how do you clean it without removing the powerhead and electronics????
not splashed yet. busy with a relocation . grungy ? hard to answer. typically i strip th eblock down to nothing and degrease and reassemble cleaning everytihgn as i go,.
Sorry, one more last question, have you ever or do you run a water separator/filter on your in-line sixes??? Thank you for your time, Mark
So it does float and actually runs very well…..break in complete. Next to see what it will really do after a few minor adjustments…..
So a pic of this boat in action last weekend at the Southern Maryland Boat Club Vintage regatta. Dialed in pretty good. Enjoy.
Couple more.
