Was that at some kind of outing for inmates?

ok we know who was fastest in the past but in the past year or two other than Nass and a few others anyone running over 135 this year probably? Runs like Dixons 151 and the WR OMC 171 are very rare for quite some time now. 130-140 seems to be the single outboard fastest top end these days until someone has a very very ballsy day like Dixon had.
For those who don't know, Erik has one of the quickest outboards on the planet, and he IS one of the nicest and most honest people you will ever meet,
If you must try for such a endeavor PLEASE have a pick up boat near by, and a real racing vest on, I'm not a believer in helmets in our small boats without a safety capsule
but to each their own, I have lost a blade , then ripped off the bottom of the lower unit , it happens fast and you never know what will happen, I was in a heavy lake racer
boat and it just shook , but in a light weight boat while on the EDGE who knows ? have a pick up boat.
I would think if something seized up with a non-ratcheting gear case that would be the worst, the nose would lift , see ya...
or where did the Gator or log come from. your not going to drive around it at speed.
At 62 years young, I don't see the honor of having the fastest top speed lightweight outboard as important as making it to the next day.
Ask Dixion if he would try to break his own record , he was lucky and he knows it. Life is to short folks
Yeah and if you think he's just a Old Fogie
Bring you motorcycle here in February 24- 26th http://www.jenningsgp.com/
and lets give it a go.
You race on a race track , because if something happens you have help.
Cuda your a smart man!
I sent a text message to someone who at the time had just run 127mph in his STV RR. I mentioned to him I had just run 126mph in the Argo 23 & I was coming for him! His response has been burned in my memory bank ever since, he simply said " your going to make me stay in it longer" ! That person was Gordan ( Monty Racing for those who dont know ) and he and a few others are who I admire, look up to and keep me pushing for more and more! I need four mph to break 130 w/ the Twister 24 but its going to take big power, some stupidity & friends that set benchmarks. If I die trying that is ok.. I rather die living vs sitting on the bench. I love living on the ragged edge, it's a great view
Know Monty well 20 some years , you know why he bought that STV, I was at his house , he showed me his 240+ HP Hayabusa / Turbo bar hopper
Said I'm going to kill my self on this , made so much power he had snapped the chain launching , sell it get a HD relax ... , not sure what he ever bought, except the STV
One good thing about the STV in well train hands we all know it is the safest single outboard boat made , holds the record 151mph
You are in uncharted area searching for 130+ in that design , yes you are very experienced , but the boat you are in has never gone as fast as you have pushed it
It might have design limits ??? I guess time will tell, but the bottom line is , Have a pick up boat , be careful with the trim .
The beauty of the STV it fly's real well , what I mean it packs air pushes the back up making life at 130 safer than any other boat period .
I would never go past neutral trim 1 to 2 degree tucked in is better .
Best of luck , have a pick up boat , time is of the essence when thing go wrong.
I'm done.
I can see why they invented hydro's
My last top end run I never did trim it out to my usual sweet spot. I was able to hit my goal with very conservative trim and when I saw the pics it was actually slightly negative.

I just hope that all you guys chasing these big #s in these small boats wear all the necessary safety gear - Lifeline w/ leg straps and ballistic nylon shorts, full face helmet with restraints, and some sort of neck protection. Another boat on the water with multiple people on board to help in case of an accident is just as important as well. Trust me, when you are part of rescue that brings in a fellow boat racer from a fatal accident, you realize that none of what we are doing is worth dying for. Please be safe guys!
6 point harness and 3500kn safety cell and use one after they change the rules about the canopy as currently its useless
This needless death here from canopy falling off just when he needed it

PS full air as well
like tom berringer says everybodys got ta die sometime now get back in your hole! i mean boat
I'm not scared of dying, I just don't want it to hurt a lot!
