60+ MPH fliver... (My fliver thread)

I was doing a cork screw turn thing, had the boat almost perpendicular to the water surface and about half sunk... and got a little frisky and ended up pulling one of those slow motion "ohh *****" maneuvers. Once it went beyond the point of no return I jumped off pushing as hard against the boat as possible, to maybe help keep it from flipping... but didnt work. I jumped and my head never went under, I watched the boat slowly flip and the lower unit come up, the motor sputtered a time or two and it was all calm.

Tried standing on the side rail and righting it but its too wide and didnt have a rope or anything to tie onto one side. Stood atop the boat for 10-15 minutes until some nice fellers arrived and towed me in.

It was a good laugh and it didnt hurt anything... even my ego. :)

Im on my way back out... hopefully will have some time for a video/GPS session.

I thought flipping over backwards was going to be how I flip it first!! but I guess not.


It seems to be pretty good stability in calm water or with one person. But with two people and a little chop it gets 'exciting'! But passengers have nothing to worry about, Im not stupid. And I take it easy with them.... but if they want to drive it they're more than welcome to go out and hurt themselves....

I'm glad you were not hurt, but that looks like a lot of fun. This is just the type of thing that most people here would want to drive in a heartbeat!

see where your standing it straight up, you can move your weight way foreward and keep it from doing that. that right there is what is called a "PEARL" in the big boy world. :cool:

OK, good. I just couldn't make out one in the pics. FYI I have sunk a motor running, and the water crystalized a rod bearing causing major problems.

the motor was running 10 min. after the sinking....

I live 2 miles down the road from the lake.... we're good to go! And I fogged the motor!

A tethered kill switch would have stopped the motor before the boat even turned over
