NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THE OBJECTIVE,
Blame S&F management for that-----I did post it , honest to murgatroyd -----'twas the management that cocked it up .
Day of normality, shop is clean and tidy, have a good stock of stainless and various degrees of wood I can fiddle with, sun was hot today, but the shop was nice and cool, should have been churning stuff out but could not get my rear in gear for some reason.
sold a bunch of stuff on ebay-----jig saw, carving chisels, air tools, chucks, grinders and belt sanders------it's ok selling things, but it's a right royal pain packing and posting and then you get hassle with pay pal------the price they charge I reckon I should be treated like an Arabian princess!
Started on some of the spalted beech I picked up last week, a hell of a lot of moisture in it , so whatever I make is going to crack wide open from asshole to breakfast time. Looks good when it's turned or carved, then polished, stand back and admire, close the door, job done. Open the shop and the piece is full of splits.
Show you a couple of bits I did today in the next post.
Most of you know I help run the old farts golf tourney------so as not to interfere with the smooth running of the Tavares classic, I decided to run it a day early and throw a Barbee at Bill and Betty's place in the evening. Thought things were going too well-----couple can't make it on the Thursday .
Jesus wept, their all long since retired, not like they have to clock in any more, you would think they would grab the chance to make a fool of themselves for another day, then go play boats on Friday.
i need all you who intend to participate to send your $50 entree fee to---

Let me know how you feel about Thursday or Friday for the golf?
Good morning Jim, long time no see, every time I see a boat that needs identifying, I say to myself -----Olegater would know who that is!!!
You and Kenny going to Tavares?
Was going to Key West but that clashes with Jilly's birthday, did it last year, but the fall out is still resonating around our house. Haven't got the balls to do it two years on the trot, anyway there's only so maNy times you can walk down Duval!!!
I don't know if it's just me----but my iPad has a strange idiotic program in built called "Spellcheck" it depicts how APOPKA is spelt , must have snuck up on me when I wasn't looking, you have to remember I'm one one of the one finger brigade-------I have to look at the keyboard.
Correct address for Betty is in the Off 2014 thread.
Apologies to all concerned and enjoy the day. J.

Just some of the spalted beech I've been farting around with, the figuring is spectacular, particularly the yeti foot? This a genuine specimen from the Jurassic period, had a carbuncle on his heel and a sockin great bunion------that's the right foot.
other two are "HEYLANGO'S originally from Sweden-----these two came from st Leonard's forest in West Sussex, they are remembered by the swedes in their celebratory toasts at the dining table whilst quaffing vast quantities of AQUAVITE .!!
SO-----I exaggerate a little, everyone worldwide knows the "HEYLANGO'S " were a ferocious tribe that did more than their fair share of rape and pillage, caused a fair old rumpus wherever they landed-------women were glad to see them , but menfolk were a tad miffed on the odd occasion and tended to pull the jolly old cudgel out from under the stairs and go in for a bit of head banging now and again------mostly when they'd been at the AQUAVITE.
To move on to today's happenings-----got most of the ebay stuff labeled and ready for collection.
Reset the sailboat piece I did last year "Rounding the mark", never much liked it for some reason, think it's improved it a little.
Enjoyed my time in the shop again, will think of something to get the little grey cells working overtime.
Lassie is going to come out of the undergrowth-----suspect he's related to the HEYLANGOS .
Enough of all this I'm turning over, MYGGWY.J.

Thats the "Rounding the mark" piece
Still hasn't happened, nobody yet told me what a crock of sh-t that was, keep expecting it, feel free to comment. There's very little of my stuff that Jilly even likes, but she paints some really good stuff, I can't even draw Pluto.
In fact I will post you a piccy of a couple of her paintings.
Beautiful day again today, good to be alive, have to make the most of this, summers here at last.
I don't comment on stuff I know nothing about! Maybe some rag hangers would have something to say about the piece but I don't think there's many of them near this site! you could always put some handles on and go play Zelda! [you need 20 year old kids to get that one]
J.W. It doesn't matter what we think....If we did think it was cr*p we wouldn't tell you- far too polite.
You enjoy do'in it....we enjoy lookin at it....come sundown that's all that matters.
That snap from Bristol was in the Old Mud Dock pit area now a car park, used it a while back to show an old car racer pal
the Docks course.
Now Terry Sanger was a long serving sort,BRDC member since the '60's worked his way up from 2 wheels to F5000 but he said
he'd have to swallow hard to venture a lap round on the $3 ferry let alone a race boat..........Brave Men All.
Jackie: What appears to be brass mounting screws and nut don't mix well with the stainless. Fact the nut/bolt seems out of place. Maybe attach a mounting piece in SS will give it a more finished look. Other than that, I'm impressed.
Bristol always worried me----it was an accident waiting to happen, I think four dead drivers and a bunch of drivers still hurting from doing the rounds tells me I was right.
i watched from the banks for the first five years it was held, it was like drivers had left their brains in bed.
It was Scottie who told me "it's not as bad as it looks", so I had a go, must confess I never did race the course balls hanging out, I was always in total control and mindful of the fact I had a wife and five kids and a job to go to on Monday morning.
Seebold was the king of Bristol without any shadow of a doubt, he showed this when running against the V8 s with inferior horsepower and a much smaller boat that he could handle with confidence and knew it's limitations.
Never came across ANY driver that could run and control the V8 and tell me he was happy with it, and I knew most of them.
That could stir up a hornets nest.
With hand on heart I can tell you I never once drove the ,"Cosworth " to the limit. I took it to the limit of my ability to control it, and I'm certain the V8 drivers would tell you the same thing.
Jackie: If the V-8's and your KT were difficult, just imagine the Rotary on the back of a 1970 Scottie built for a V-4. I believe the only time they really got hung out was the initial run at Parker. Some say they were running in excess of 140 MPH on that first lap. Would be fun to see one run on todays boats.
If I could have got the Hodges over the hump, I am certain there was 150 mph to be had, the boat was not capable of those sort of speeds, the motor was running 125 @ 8,000, motor gave 400 hp at 10,000 as far as I remember.

This is the trophy for the winner of the Off golf tourney, it's a pot I got given in Palamos Spain in 1968 ---solid silver---double skinned rose bowl.
Saves me a lot of work and gets rid of another old trophy.
Reason you haven't gotten any pictures of Jilly's paintings is, I can't remember where I last had the camera----have done this twice before, rushed out and bought a new camera and a week later found the old one. It'll turn up---has to, I ain't been anywhere to lose it-----damn thing!!!
No fool like an old one!!
Yeah, I know dull as ditchwater today, car boot tomorrow, I may find an all admins lamp or a long lost Rembrandt .
That lousy rotten "spellcheck " came up with ALL ADMINS for ALLADIN, told you it was a simple minded piece of kit. Don't worry about it, I'll be fine tomorrow. Good night and may your god go with you. J.
