Be careful Fugi - one of these days you will say something that will jog my memory and I will figure out who you are! I ran one of the proto Hydra steers on a 200 mid - running at WFOT trimmed to the moon, chopped the throttle, got a instant case of torque reversal - that was enough for me to poo poo the idea.
Which just jogged my memory - very few people know that HydraSteer was first tried on MerCruiser Alpha.
Only the picture..#54 boat was as close to perfect as you could ever hope for. Bobby raced it before me and won about every time, as I did after Marcel took it off the roof of his car for me to run next. Lucy said it was their fishin boat, and she loved it. I was lucky enough to have Marcel surprise before the start of the first Six Hour Race with my co-driver as he said he would. The great Craig DeWald, whom I idolized at the time, and one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He co drove with me and Richie Baiz in the 70 HP class, and we won both..Quote:

I remember that boat in the Hudson River Marathon... It was pretty beat up by then, but it did finish. It was quite a bit bigger than the Allisons, Checkmates, and Glastrons in its class and gave away a lot in speed....Quote:
