Home again but unfortunately. You aint never going to believe what happened on the way to the forum.!
“ECHO”. Now there’s something to look out for !!!!!!!!!!! “END OF LIFE CARE WITHDRAWAL “
Ranks alongside “DNR” [do not resusitate]————-
So—guesstimation —- 6 months ???????
Unless the aneurism cuts in , then you wont know much about it [but it will be quick].
Just had 10 days in hospital !!!!!!! Small ward of 6 miserable old geezers suffering from various forms of dementure and all knocking on the door . Not doing that again —-most miserable experience !!!!!!!
during which time they managed to lose my false teeth———-my new hearing appliance —— it simply is not possible to tell you the carrying ons in these pages!!!!!!!!
Nothing short of a paperback will suffice
Trusty Lexus gave up the ghost on the way back——————what should have been a twenty minute journey was a morning lost .
Once logic—reason and common sense kicked it . Was obvious what the problems were.
Trusty Lexus had not been called on for active duty for 2 months . Meanwhile ,its brain had been ticking away ,using small amounts of electric, which had been taken from the battery.
This meant when it was called on to pick me up from hospital on a cold February morning —- using all the heated seats and blowers it simply refused to do so.
this is where all the ridiculous emergency procedures turn to worms !!!!!!!!!
Starts with trying to open the rear door [which is where you get to charge the battery]. Impossible since you need the electric key to do so.
why not just a simple button or key to unlock the door ???????????
Fact is , i lost a full morning and inconvenienced a number of people getting home from the hospital.
will spend several weeks having a new set of dentures constructed !!!!!!!!!
Do have the latest all singing and dancing hearing aid . Massive strides have been made since last summer in that direction.
FINALLY a good nights sleep.
Must try and FaceTime SEEBOLD today—-it’s important i let him know I’m back again !!!!!!!!
You know what—in spite of all the drama and trauma — not a damn things changed ——-nothings any different——— “WHATS IT ALL ABOUT JACKIE???????”
WAS SEEBOLD who called me yesterday. He was with Mike and Lynne clearing up the workshop in Naples. Timmy is coming down from the Ozarks to visit for a few days . That really is one of the closest knit families in boating today.
if you were ever fortunate enough to be friends with the Seebolds you will know exactly what i mean.
Tim seems to be getting his F1 series together —has an extra show to organise .
One day maybe all the effort of organising power boat racing will come together —- always was in house fighting and disagreement . What could have been the ‘greatest show on earth” always fell a little short —— mainly due to a clash of personalities ———factory disagreements [usually capacity disagreements which should ave and could ave been fixed easily if a little common sense had been allowed !!!!!!!!!!
Both circuit and offshore powerboat racing is as spectacular as it gets —one only has to visit Valleyfield to realise how all forms of boating can be blended together to put on a show .
Key West and The Lake of the Ozarks are another couple of places where all forms of boating can be put on show and make one hell of a spectacle .
Offshore has such an illustrious past that its hard to see how you will be able to keep up the standard .
Then again so has circuit racing———Paris —-Berlin—-Milan —-Amsterdam —-Rotterdam —Rouen Evian —-Bristol —- Havasu——Miami.—-Stockholm —-Valleyfield —-CHASEWATER Everything from 3/6/12/24 hr races . Has been done , which shows it can be done .
Seems like our sport is in a period of limbo !!!!!!!!!!!
Over here it is the insurance industry that is killing everything. To put it in perspective, can you imagine trying to bring back the Bristol Grand Prix or the Paris six hour?....both with F1 boats?
Insurance has long been a problem for Boat racing promototors. Most of it was managed under the “OLD PALS ACT”. Friends who were in the insurance game !!!!!!!!!!
Bladinaire was the instigator in Paris and Charlie Shepherd in Bristol. Both punched well above their weight arranging insurance cover.
Steve KERTON did a hot lap as a “special” for a re-union at Bristol—-without insurance—-just about killed off any mention of the word POWERBOAT within a thousand miles of Bristol for all time. There will never ever be another BRISTOL ——-it is impossible to get insurance cover..
WILL have to get CHRISTIAN TOLL to tell us how he manages to get insurance for the COWES/TORQUAY !!!!!!!!!
Again , i am quite sure this is no ordinary insurance set up, but something created by a small group of dedicated low profile powerful individuals .
Insurance is an issue. But two fatal accidents in four years at the Long Beach Marine Stadium, has currently shut down racing by the City of Long Beach California.

We had five fatalities at The Bristol docks race over the years. I know of at least one at each of the UK race sites. LMBRC at IVER.
FAIRFORD. [peter Inward].
CHASEWATER ——-and Carr Mill.
several Hydro drivers also lost their lives.
Power boat racing has always been a dangerous sport and many lives have been lost through the years.
Insurance has always been compulsory=-hard to find and expensive. But isnt that the name of the insurance game anyway ????????
Our generations accepted that motorsports were inherently dangerous. We mitigated these dangers to a certain extent and simply went with the rest. These days people expect that no one should get hurt or killed doing anything.
Ain’t that the truth——-goes against the grain to swig out of a communal pop bottle ———or a hosepipe ——————use a swing made from an old truck tyre.
Ride a bike without a helmet—-knee pads—-elbow pads and gloves !!!!!!!!!!
Go out in the rain without a Mackinaw.
Then again i wouldn’t dare answer my sainted mother back.
Times were important——- i knew exactly when i could be out and when i should be home .
Cleanliness was next to Godliness———.
Manners maketh man ——— it all stood me in good stead over the years . Parents were respected as well as feared .
Wasn’t that i was afraid of my parents —- just my sainted mother had the hardest hands i ever encountered which in turn commanded respect anyway .
I never ever once had an hour off from being a father to any of my five kids ———- nowadays , parents want 6 months off to get over a birth.
will have to stop this here a-bitchin and a -moaning —— folk will think I’m serious !!!!!!
Lost another in ski racing in OZ
Several state coroners got them to slow down so its all limited to 120mph now
https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/southern-80-annual-water-skiing-race-cancelled-following-tragic-death-of-skier-luke-wentworth/news-story/609618de9c9b77b1da50775ca31339be
UNFORTUNATELY there have always “ doom mongers” ——— bad news is always the best news they have ever heard, a fatality is manor from heaven
If it wasn't hard and sometimes dangerous everybody would do it.
My grand daughter and her spouse Gary Stray get up to all sorts of nonsense in the offshore powerboat world ——- stuff like running the “GEICO”. team for years out of JUPITER !!!!!!!!
Last year they campaigned the “HUSKI” TEAM “ as well as Johnny Tomlinson and “POTHOLE HEROES”This year is no exception —they do have an exciting line up of drivers and boats with Carlos and Johnny T. In the “POTHOLE HEROES”. PLUS a new to the USA offshore scene VICTORY boat.
He is also working on a RIVA with a pair of V12 FERRARI ENGINED FI MOTORS !!!!!
AN ALL SINGING AND DANCING 30’ ALL ELECTRIC HOME GROWN BOAT!!!!!!!
FIVE WILL GET YOU TEN IT WILL BE QUICK !!!!!!!
If anyone wants to run an offshore raceboat—remember it costs a lot of money and has to be paid for .
Managed a couple of hourAttachment 529762Attachment 529763s in the shop yesterday.
Put the finishing touches to a new fashioned all metal offshore tunnel. New format I haven’t tried before . For a new client . Impressed myself . Still life in the old dog yet

Wow thats sad. Is this official because I haven't heard anything on the jungle drums. I thought it strange he hadn't posted for sometime.
Time waits for no man. What an excitement filled, adventurous life he lived. Thankful for being able to communicate with him on here. RIP.
Very sad news ..... We met at Molinari's'shop in 1970. He taught me to enjoy early morning tea and caused me to add 'Bloody Hooray' to my daily vocabulary. :smiletest:

We enjoyed the back-and-forth chatter we had on S&F a few years back, it was a friendship revival. I will miss him ..... Jackie Wilson

One of the more infamous "discussion" with Jackie; the OMC rotary race engine. This is from the first OFF I believe 2010.
