I think I rigged that one and we did a BHB on it and then some photos. ActionCraft wanted 50 MPH - I was stuck at like 49.8 radar. Took it in the shop - drilled out the carb jets, viola! 51 and change!Quote:

What lower unit is on the 700X? It would seem that a single pinion lower unit would be sufficient for a 49in motor.
From what I have heard it was a 16/23 ratio with one driveshaft and pinion. Don't know that for a fact, but makes sense.Quote:

The Hi Perf catalog says they had 13/16 ratio. Rumor is that std motors came with single pinion, but motors that dyno'ed 'extra' came with dual pinion. I think its more likely that Merc set some up for marathons vs sprint ... could be that the marathon motors were indeed 'extra' hp motors sent to specific racersQuote:
