Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Already had four hours in the shop !
Got a little problem here Pilgrim———-would appear Kay Marshall threw her boat out of the park and has left Mick a bit of an expensive dilemma————-how to get her from a hospital in Thailand——-back home to Australia ! Now I’ve had this dilemma before and have learned one thing from the experience.
There is no cheap way out of this————- it’s going to cost an arm and a leg with a mortgage thrown in to boot, just to get her home. That does not take into account the doctors, surgeons and ambulance fees!
How about I make one of my better “concepts” and stick it up for auction ( the get Kay Home trophy )
This-is where you come in Pilgrim————— do I make a tunnel boat or an offshore ?
I can tell you that more people want an offshore concept than a circuit.
You might have to call in Little Kevin West to help you on this———- he’s a lousy hairdresser, but he’s got a lovely wife in ROZ.
Keep me in the loop as they say these days——— we just used to day “Catch you later”.

50 50 re offshore versus tunnel boat interest in OZ I would guess ( ski racing bigger than both)
How would you feel if you loaned someone a boat and the steering failed and hurt the driver....

Ok, I got a “Lucas” offshore mounted on glass———ready to ship. A fairly respectable, not yet finished pickle———another two days and it’ll be done . Your choice.
Trying to get Roy Cooper to do the same thing here
Sorry Pilgrim———- if someone borrowed a boat of mine, then it’s their job to make sure it’s fit to race. You do pre flight check——-its done throughout the world in every motorised sport. Final check should be done by crew chief———then the pilot.

Well Pilgrim, I have to tell you———-you are noticeable by your absence. By that, I gather you got nowhere in getting hold of Kevin West, or anyone else who’s willing to take on the task of auctioning off one or two concepts to get Kay Marshall Home.
Not to worry, I got one or two cogs turning———- let’s see what happens in this neck of the woods once folk get their rear in gear!
Never did get back in the shop yesterday afternoon———— spirit was willing, but the body wasn’t.
Same thing today——— after three hours in the morning——- had nothing left for the afternoon.
Managed to get the tunnel mounted and half finish the motor. Will complete the job in the morning!
Once it’s done, take your pick, then we’ll get the ball rolling.

Sorry but I dont know a Kevin West
Oz or the USA is the place to do this I would guess?

Kevin West has been around since roman times————especially F1 boats. Enthusiastic to the point of stupidity, but his hearts in the right place. I’ll get hold of him and send him the concept
i think Noel Scott has a trophy that could be Auctioned off in the USA!
Ill get my daughters to arrange another one for sale over here in England———— time to get the ball rolling and see if we can get Kay Marshall Home after her F1 accident in Thailand.

Second thoughts Pilgrim———-Fi boat racing in Singapore has always been well supported——— methinks you could raise a tidy sum if I sent you an F1 boat. Not telling you how to suck eggs, but you seem to be the dogs cajones on a puter——- maybe you could set up a web site or something like that?

Been like shelling peas today————-Only spent a couple of hours in the shop, but they were good hours. Everything’s polished up, ***** and span, so to speak.

Well Midlife that’s going to make things interesting————in truth Kay has been around a long time.
Ive watched her race worldwide including Australia. She and husband Mick are a well respected pair in the powerboat world.
Seemed like she needed a chuck——— all I’ve done is offered a hand.
So if it’s ok, I’ll just go ahead and strew a few “concepts” around the globe and see which way the cookie crumbles.
My sainted mother used to tell me——- you can’t get blood out of a stone! ———but again, she told me I never took any notice of what she said anyway.

When I started FONDA ——— Parkinson came up with the idea. Of putting 5 percent of the total prize money into a drivers accident and injury fund. Problem was, we never had an accident in the first two years, the fund was hucking Fuge————upshot of this was———- drivers had a meeting and voted to cash it all in and share the cash out amongst themselves.. Stupid or what ?
To this day, I have never met a “SMART” powerboat driver——— if he was smart, he never would have stepped into a boat.

Not intended to dissuade you from doing what you are doing Jackie. I was only showing you that she is also getting some help in other ways too. :thumbsup: All the best...

BUT, the last 2 F1 races left a large bill the Gov had to fix as 2 crooks involved and then the Nations Cup event the promoter did a runner in the middle of it and left lots of bills ( she was involved in previous scam)
I am too scared to say F1 in Singapore. Singapore no longer UIM member
Self funded racing with no promoter is where I am trying to restart racing.

I can see lots of Racers in OZ are giving to the GO fund me including me.

ok Pilgrim———- I hear you. FONDA raced many years in Singapore with tremendous success———- never had a problem. Mind you, we never tried to shaft them either. Must have been after I walked away———- that was when Velden and SAN Germano and the UIM took over the series.
Sounds like you got an uphill struggle.
Dont need a promoter——— but you will need cash———lots of it———- racing boats is an expensive affair.
