Attachment 521802First time since it was built—SUPERSHED was not graced by my presence this week. Arm was in a sling and the wrist was splinted so not even with my guile —deceit and caution, have i been able to run the blockade and fire up the machinery.
Pretty sure MURPHY [THE CAT] and INDY [ the black lab] are in cahoots with her indoors and i would be in deep KA-KA should i inadvertently stray out on to the patio for any reason.

Looking through the festival of speed members handbook i came across the very “ROLEX” that i swopped one of my better CONCEPTS for. Guy lives in Monaco and i took him at his word and he came up trumps . Will be one of the things for sale on the” “WILSON CUSTOM MARINE stand in the poker run village —down at KEY WEST in November this year .
I had been looking for a copy oF“SEARACE”. for nearly 20 yrs . My son has had one forever and whenever i visited him i spent a lot of time going through the real “FACTS” of offshore racing. Imagine my amazement when at last years “OFF” get together, i was presented with a brand fire new copy —wrapped and sealed .
Christian Toll had one too and was busy getting every one of the living legends autographs to sign in.
You just never know who is going to turn up at the event.
That is one of the reasons it is important that the get together should be kept alive. Unfortunately power boat racers themselves are renowned for procrastination—-and everything is “LAST MINUTE” .
It’s always been like that, it will always be like that !!!!!!!
Of course, they always make the start line before the gun fires —but hells teeth its always a close call.

Just over two years since we moved house and Jill started from scratch with the garden —-this “piniculatta vanilla fraise” hydrangea was a tiny plant when put in -but has really taken off .
Had the morning in SUPERSHED— but decided to catch up on my list of things to do this afternoon.
Poorly paw is well on the way to recovery— needs to be as it’s just a week since i gave the wrist a bashing. Must try and be more careful as the docs and nurses at Bognor Regis hospital are getting well and truly pissed off with my all too regular visits there .
wettest July on record —-but warmest June ?????? So the wise ones say its all down to ‘CLIMATE CHANGE”. ??????
Does not come anywhere near the June of 1923 when temperature was over 100 all month .
Thames did not freeze over last winter as it used to do.
Old Mother Nature has always had this nasty habit of raising her game for no apparent reason , so the wise ones have to think of a reason.

Blew up the Milwaukee charger unit and the hand held power drill —— no idea what went wrong but there was a hell of a bang and it blew the fuse and threw the switch . Drill stinks of termination.
No i don’t have the receipt so thats another couple of hundred down the pan.

Seem to have FERNAGLED a fair amount of concepts since my 91st birthday, in spite of all the mishaps and ailments that have befallen me for one reason or another this year !!!!!!!
i do try and keep the arthritis at bay and the little grey cells working hard just so i can give a good account of myself these days. Sometimes i have been known to fail miserably, whilst there are times i share a modicum of satisfaction from my “FERNAGLINGS”.

Opa-Locka airport, a favorite place of all South Florida Flyboys. Took some flying lessons there back in the early 70s learn the basics and took some jobs cigar. Joe had a facility there for engine overhaul worked on a lot of radio engines on the DC threes and the beach 18s. When I was living in Miami Lakes, you could hear them taking off late in the afternoon heading south. are used to fly up to North Perry airport to do our touching goes and then come back to Opa-Locka for the one or two hour lessons that we take from Burnside Ott a local flying school. Years later, when I was doing one of my first federal hitches, we boarded an old clapped out 727 to fly out to Oklahoma City to be processed into the federal system. Everybody goes through Oklahoma City at one time or another and flown back to Atlanta fed and then to Montgomery prison camp. That was a short one only five years.
I keep getting notices from this lady that I somehow got on her mailing list on how to live outside the US for cheap money she’s based in Panama city, panama and says that Portugal is one of the cheapest places to live in Europe. When I was in a whiskey business, I knew one Britt, by the last name of Sandeman connected up with the port and Sherry Family he came over and spent a year in South Florida and we had some wild times together wonder whatever happened to him took him to a couple of boat races here in Florida St. Petersburg the Miami Marine Stadium he seem to like it a lot anyway just wandering and reminiscing. One of my first prison go around was in Belize city back in the mid 80s used to watch the Harrier jump jet takeoff from the airport , and do their flyby’s in the morning they were bass there to keep the Guatemalans in check and they had a company of British SAS, who were there to train the local Defense force. Crash the plane down there so I had to spend some time there before we got out.

Only met the once for an afternoon [my last day in florida] with Caddilac McDaniel —was going to be just a quick visit to deliver one of my concepts . Charlie wound up with a whole bunch of them and we simply ran out of time .
I left with a bunch of pictures and a headful of stories and a race to the airport to catch a plane home .
