Bob Spalding #11 Velden Racing/Carlsberg/Johnson RS V6 3 liter looper fuel injection.
Here you can see the air operated brake cylinders at the rear of the cat. Pretty sure this is from Drammen, Norway 1980
In the second picture Bob is fueling up and next to the fuel tank is the air pressure bottle.

Have any cowl off shots turned up for the elusive 2.0 xflow?
Well..patience Campbell..:)
Here is one but not very good.

Still the most interesting OMC V6 ever..the first very powerful 2 liter looper Cees Van Der Velden won the ON World Title with 1975 in Cardiff.
Yes, I raced one in Milan, Italy 1978.
This was also the first time for the new OMC racing mid section/gearcase.
The Merc boys was not happy..Renato Molinari and Bob Hering was far behind.
Pictures of the OMC 2 liter looper block here.http://svera.se/blogg/pictures-of-th...t-race-engine/

Funny Instigator, I saw those and was guessing that it was some kind of a drag device.
Spalding's racing buddy Cees Van Der Velden was not using brakes at the same time.
No Instigator the brakes was used many years before the F1-V8 the first time.

This is from Chasewater 1978. Renato Molinari was leading the OZ class race with his new #20 Molinari/Evinrude CCC 3 liter looper with fuel injection when something went wrong with his brakes. A very bad crash and Renato was one lucky man walking away from this crash.
If I remember right this was the last race Renato used brakes..!!

Mercury used brakes for the first time at St. Louis 1974.
Not sure about this picture.
2 X Johnson V4 and maybe Bob Nordskog is the driver??

1976 Amsterdam 3hr race this was the time line where both factories were discussing up to 2 litres or above engine sizes. At the Amsterdam race OMC had the 2.5 crossflow engine now running good Alf Bullen ran one and i think Hans Pelster ran one and i do know Barry Woods and Jimbo were both running the 2.3 looper engines.Velden had just gone back to Mercury and the next race in the UK was at Fairford he came over with a 2.4 Mercury outfit and beat Peter Thorneyworks lap record which he held with a 2.0litre crossflow engine.Peter was pretty pissed with this so he checked with Brugge both of the 2.3 looper engines had been left over there so off he went and had one of these engines fitted for the next national event at Fairford and retook the lap record.
Wow..Thanks I missed that completely.
I was at the OMC factory before the Amsterdam race invited by Paul Kalb..we did not get along and I took my SE class Clerici from Sweden to race in Amsterdam instead of the bad OE factory boat Paul Kalb offered me to drive.
I remember Alf Bullen driving extremely hard in his #6 OZ class Burgess/Johnson V6 RS at the last hour of Amsterdam. Was watching from the pit because my SE boat broke.

After Amsterdam we went back to OMC in Brugge/Bruges and Paul Kalb gave us a new better Burgess to rig for Paris 6 Hours. I did not pay attention to all the stuff going on with the V6 engines at OMC Brygge/Bruges at that time. Was biting my tongue because of Paul Kalb..
( I can tell it now..but I was so upset with the way Paul was running the OMC factory OE boats I was already planning for Volvo Penta/Konig OE class racing 1977. Roger Jenkins did the same thing..he left OMC OE class racing also because of Paul Kalb..
The link below is more about the #47 OE class Burgess/Johnson RS me and Bo Nilsson rigged and raced in Paris 6 Hours 1976. My last race for Paul Kalb.

Danny Thibodeaux is with Ben Robertson
Here you are Jeremy, the Modified Unlimited Outboards. Benny Robertson is driving the OMC V8, he is sponsored by Turbo Props and IBM. He made the Mercs look like toys. This was a World Record Course 4 lap 3 mile. It was 1 buoy at each turn 1980 feet apart. Hard to run with a small motor. The turns were very sharp but the straights were long, Benny didn't seem to have any problems with the course. Notice how the OMC sounds like a jet.

The no 15 Molinari boat was from OMC Brugge James Beard was leading the Thames race with that boat in 1969..In January 1970 at the Earls Court boat show OMC Europe racing manager John Tucker had a meeting with me he told me he had just asked Bob Spalding if he would drive for OMC in the ON class and asked if I would drive in the 89cu OI class as he had ideas for a new engine.I told him I was happy to drive with the Shakespeare team and did not want to drive in the lower class also Bill Shakespeare who was 40 yrs old at this time and got his engines from Jack leek in the US was thinking of taking a back seat from racing and just wanted to manage his own team.So this picture from Oulton broad is Bob Spaldings 1970 drive.
This picture I just got from Jørgen Jørgensen makes me so happy and put a big smile on my face. Thanks Jorgen.
Its from the big boat race in Lappeenranta, Finland 1973.
My dream just came thru and I won the race everybody told me I could not win..
Its me in the Evinrude t-shirt, Hans Holmén next to me in front of my #99 Clerici/Evinrude SS. Bo Nilson and Orjan behind in his Schulze/Merc.

I don't think there was one for the racing V8.

Nja Mark75H,
The FT-19s did not use the strait-in front. The lower carburetor was to low for the important shift rod for the stock gearcase.
See arrow first picture..shift rod holder is the cast for the FT-19s.
The strait-in front was only used for the OE class without a shift rod and you must use o different lower cowling with a box welded on under for the lower carb.
See second picture.
The next two picture is the strait-in front for the OE engine without shift rod holder. Same front was also used for the OE 31 engine.
Most strait-in powerhead also used the better pressed in sleeves.
