Hotel people should probably look back at where we were a year ago with Covid19 and be thankful they are even booked out and stop being bitchy.

Damn good pictures of the family.
So— Bristol came and went . I was surprised at how much hard cash has been ploughed into the Bristol Docks area. 20% of the area is Still a total sh-t house but as my sainted mother used to say
„“YOU CANT MAKE A SILK PURSE ————„“
One things for absolute certain —there will. Never be another Bristol race —-town council crappy itself if ever its mentioned —— even the Jonesy boat was not allowed within 50 feet of the dock just in case somebody was tempted .
Most of the buildings were owned or rented by W.D.& H.O. WILLS the Tobacco giants . But like most councils they want the cake and eat it. If you fart these days somebody will accuse you of smoking.
Was a bit like going to a wake —- reminiscing and lying about the old days and pretending that back in the day it was all tinsel and chocolate cake .
My hotel bill for me and the family fifty years ago was under £100—- Two nights at the BRISTOL HOTEL [which is a mediocre doss house at best] was £400 . Worst breakfast i was ever offered and a wanker of an hotel manager . But the bed was comfortable !!!!!!!Attachment 506125
ROY COOPER from FAST ON WATER was the guy who organised the whole thing .
Didnt hear or see anything of the proposed Maritime Museum.
thats it for now —Sam and Clive are taking us all to Goodwood for the day.
Still lookin for any old unwanted—unloved RC props —-35 mm is about the right size needed but im not that fussed . Did get some from Michael Stancome but they worked out at over twenty apiece . Non viable when there’s four sodding big outboards on the back of a concept.

Billy and Tim eying up their new cars !!!!!!
Finally back to normality . SEEBOLDS made HEATHROW airport with four hours to spare. Was nice having them around for a couple of days. Was surprised how much slower we both were . Bloody time thief had been sneaking around again while i wasn’t looking.
dont suppose i will ever go to another reunion—-simple reality check tells me that.
Never sold even one of the concepts to a race driver . Did sell one to a race drivers son [Dean Jenkins]. Carlos Mendes did say he was going to order one — nothing yet, but its early days .
Miles Jennings has been promising to call in to the shop for the last six months [about a commision] but again , nothing yet , Somehow old racers are not the most reliable in the world —- just the tightest [ i learned that the hard way].
Not even 7am yet and im ready for the shop——-have a mindful of new concepts that will probably wind up under the bench!!!!!!!!
That's why the "famous" Havasu 2021 reunion won't happen again.
I kept all of my pay slips from a 40 year career and was planning on encasing them in a custom Plexiglas box. Then I asked myself WHO (besides myself) would this collection be significant to? Answer was nobody. I ended up feeding my pay slips to the shredder. My opinion is that Billy was obligated to attend Bristol reunion because of the status associated with Bristol and the Duke Of York trophy. Molinari there? No... Bentz? No... Fountain? No ....Bush? No...Hering? No
Categorically Billy was not obligated to gon to Bristol—- he went because he wanted to. Plus he had a shedload of other things planned . Timmy came across as a safety measure — he is turned 80 for christs sake.
Renato is in hospital and the nuns did not take kindly to his Bristol request,
BENTZ is far too busy running his empire to time out for Bristol.
When did you last see BUSHEY anywhere??????
Bobby DOESNT even grace Tavares or any other memorial.
Wedgie ????????? Couldn’t find a hairdresser in England that was willing to give him a blow job [ the hair of course —dont touch the hair]——- Did Reggie ever race Bristol????????
Another slight problem is the fact that was the 50th anniversary. Most of the people who raced Bristol have copped their clogs long ago .
Almost sure the duke of York trophy was only raced for a couple of times at Bristol. Was deemed to be better than sitting in a cupboard at thr RYA offices .
Was about what you could expect for a powerboat reunion . Sport is in decline anyway and has been for years —- we simply choose to ignore the fact.
ITS JUST A DEDICATED FEW WHO HAVE THE THANKLESS TASK OF TRYING TO KEEP IT ALIVE ???

Mike Butler was a fresh faced american kid, always with a Kodak slung round his neck when i first met him, well over 50 years ago.
Always had a smile on his face and was well liked by everyone. Never knew what his official role with Mercury was, always assumed he was the picture taker !!!!
Still friends even though he retired from “THE FIRM” long ago.
Do not ever bad mouth Mercury when he is around —- he is Mercury through and through.
Of course i can clear this — no problem at all.—- what’s with the “KNEW” him?? I still do —speak with him on a daily basis !!
When i was first born at a very early age —— sainted mother dropped me !!!!!!!!!
words like “HELLS TEETH”. —- HOLY SH-T ——HELL FIRE AND DAMNATION—- HARD LUCK —— and oaths like OOOW. I BET THAT HUCKING FURT . All oaths started with an H. [according to roman and Greek mythology] So Grandad got to call me JACK.Hebrew for JESUS. Mother to call me HAITCH [from the latin] and the old boy uttered those immortal words ——-Christ almighty the very first time he saw me—— There you have it “ JESUS H. CHRIST !!!
...thanks j.w. now i know...;)...

Special Father’s Day treat. TOMAHAWK STEAK. I am fairly well travelled but I never even heard of a tomahawk steak. Clive has a new fangled Japanese charcoal burner . Grill . Handful of coals —it was still burning bright and would cook anything six hours later when i left.
Has a hot air lighter no stinky fuels .l First light the grill an hour before you need to cook —— will cook for. Five hours non stop —marvellous contraption .
Went out to the “GRUMPY MOLE” for Father’s Day lunch . Surprised just how good it was this time .
