Yes, 2us70. Canada dropped class designations following the 1973 season, although I remember some racers began shrinking the size of the letters after 1970. Interestingly, this results page has Tommy Lee's FJ-1 Checkmate sporting both classes that he ran in the Division 2. FJ & U1 were often combined into one division, as were FE & FG.... S & U ..... and even S & SK back then. Separate points, but often confusing for the spectators.
This particular event was my very first boat race. We had a 13' Checkmate on order, but it didn't arrive in time for the May 24th weekend, so Ted Quinn (dealer/ distributor and Mercury Racing's main consultant) loaned me a 14' Checkmate. Quebec's Gerry Fournier was the guy to beat in his OMC. I won FG class and Gerry won FE - both running in Division 1. What a thrill that was, and when my 13-footer finally arrived, there was no looking back - Hooked for life on this sport!

I did a couple of seasons in an E Production boat based on the MX13. Not much luck with that running a Mercury against the OMCs. My last season was in a G production 14' version of that boatAttachment 455376
