Oh Yes------Almost forgot! HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ME AND ALL you OUT THERE IT APPLIES TO,
Opened a bunch of "Fathers day" cards---------lots of presents
Had breakfast outside on the terrace with my Dutch friends Tiny and Leo.
Today is FISH DAY .? As Leo says-------friends and fish stay fresh for three days--------they had their three days, so they are coming with me for a slap up Father's Day lunch before leaving for new haven and the Long trip back to holland.
Without going into structural fire fighting tactics and strategy, that seems nuts. Where possible firefighters always try to reach the seat of the fire as rapidly as possible. I have had training and experience in aircraft, marine and structural fire fighting and 21 years as a Chief officer on these incidents. I find it hard to believe that London would not adhere to basic fire fighting practices. In this particular incident with a 6 minute response time and finding a fully involved building entry may not have been made.
Gene Lanham is definitely smarter than me. He has stayed out of this one.
One of our instructors was an ex fireman with 30 odd years and he said he had never saved anyone in a fire, they were dead before they got there ( just about always from the smoke) hence he thought the rules were based on that, why risk a firefighter when most things that catch fire in the UK is old crap.
There were certainly plenty of guys who said they should be doing it the USA way, get in and ventilate the fire to remove the smoke.
Amazing how smart everyone is after the event.
British firemen been fighting fires since the great fire of London 1664, I don't think they would take kindly to being told "HOW" to fight fires!
To me, a fire is a fire and a fireman is the guy who tackles it------I don't doubt there are different methods. I am equally sure that regardless of creed, colour or nationality, each and everyone of them knows he is the best at his given job whether he or she is from the UK, USA, CHINA or the SOVIET REPUBLIC.
Its easy to criticise from the comfort of an arm chair------but without the security our firemen give us, we wouldn't sleep easy at night if we didn't have them!
Theres an awful lot of firemen who never made it trying to save others, I'm certain nobody ever says "they should have done it this way"
Firemen should be praised, not buried ? Me !
Craig made second at St, Petes---------he's gradually getting it sorted!
Sorry Pilgrim but I think you're talking out of your arse-----and you have it wrong !
To say firemen are "WELL RESPECTED EMPLOYEES" is total bollocks.
Of course there are rules and regulations-------not a person in the world can do what he wants------where he wants, or how he wants!
You think US firemen are mavericks that have a free hand to do just what they like, I'll bet a pound to a pincha the H &a S A are above the fireboys in the pecking order!
I heard it on good authority the HSA were responsible for both Korea and Vietnam
You are reading a lot into my post.
How do you describe uk firemen?
USA firemen dont have the UK HSA rules so they have different tactics, the UK guys know it and lots agree that its better.
We should be simply grateful for what we got, pisses me off when idiots come out with remarks like, well they could have got there Sooner, they only saved ten of them. Most thankless job on gods earth, like a father------it's expected !
when your there it's a case of "WHAT YOU DOING HERE"--------when you're not there it's "WHERE THE HELL YOU BEEN"?
Gene, I am not qualified to even comment on these people, the heroics, the tragedies , the sadness.
i was just one of a multitude of folk who witnessed the horror of 9/11 ------people were calling me from all corners of the earth to see if I knew any more than they did, which of course, I didn't. Just that thin Hope line of firefighters who asked for nothing but did the only thing they knew how to do .
Im ashamed to say I don't know how many died in the execution of the duty they volunteered to do . I do know it was around 300, that's where rules and regulations, procedures and protocol go out the window in the effort to save lives---------so please don't ever tell me ever-------- they shoulda done ????
Pilgrim, it's what I do------read, assimilate, analyse, comment!
How do I describe a U.K. Fireman? How long you got ?
How do describe"FIREMEN" ? Can't see it makes any difference at all which country you're from.
Yes I did see Stevie Mc Queen in towering inferno------were there fewer fires after the film-----did it stop house fires, or tower block fires?
Any rules, in any sport, can be brought in at any time at a minutes notice if they come in under the "safety" net-------you can bet the farm on the fact it's the same in FIRE.
Well summer finally showed up------ temperatures hit 91--------dogs died in cars------- celebrities jumped on the bandwagon and said you shouldn't leave pets in parked cars-------it's not PC.
Serra rushed off to Bay City to make a bloody nuisance of himself ------getting under foot and pissing folk off! Guess the fish are going to have to wait 'till he gets back.
Me myself had a quiet day in the shop------no heavy work------just marking out and coating up a four motor "Mystic" interpretation--------already found a bunch of things I did wrong already------may have to do a second version.
UPS seem to have got their act back together------two parcels reached their destination successfully-------there may be life on mars after all.
