Here are some more photos of the Windermere Lake District.
When I was there in 1971, it was chilly.

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world Lake X kid —- i have pictures somewhere of your dad at Lake Windermere , and lots of the Mercury personnel of tha period . Unfortunately there are very few of us left that actually raced Windermere in its heyday.Attachment 497518
One of the things i really liked about racing at Windermere was the „“COMARADERIE“. Started soon as you arrived , helpers—- saw you coming and within a minute you were directed to a parking spot. Seemed like the dress of the day was a wet suit. Everybody had one —men and women—- [in those days there only were two genders]. If you were associated with Windermere —you had to be adept at everything. Seemed everyone kinda interfaced with everyone else ——tractor drivers knew when boats were launched the trailer had to be parked correctly —leaving room for the next one . There was a tranquil regimentation that meant things ran smoothly. Same faces that were there last year are here this year — and will be there next year. They were always glad to see you —— always a helping hand you DIDNT need to ask . Far cry from the organised chaos of the launch ramps on the continent where LEO had the whistle permanently blowing amid much cursing and yelling —everyone mad at everybody else !!!!!!!!!
THOSE, WERE, THE DAYS MY FRIEND—WE THOUGHT WOULD NEVER END ???????

Due to mitigating circumstances —Christmas has come early to the Wilson household this year .
When a bloody turkey costs £101 and a box of Christmas crackers that put out a ten for a penny hat and a lousy joke that when you first heard you pissed your nappy— i sound just like SCROOGE. THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL —- MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL—- SEASONS GREETINGS — MISTLETOE AND HOLLY —JOLLY HOCKEY STICKS . AND TO ALL MY PICT ASCOCIATES ACROSS THE NORTH BORDER ——- LANG MAE YER LUMB REEK ..
I would suggest that everyone should read the book IRON FIST about Mr. K and Mercury Marine. There are several referrals and copies of letters that Mr. K drafted that were never mailed or sent. It was a great technique for venting his thoughts before actually taking any personal action. The only "morons" we have out there today are the ones who never ponder about what they have to say before pressing the "send" button on their computer or smart phone.
Suppose i am “GUILTY AS CHARGED” —- I DO TRY AND READ THROUGH THE STUFF I SEND — BUT ONLY BECAUSE “SPELLCHECK” IS SUCH A DICKHEAD .—— not because i pause to ponder .
Roger Hinsdale gave me a copy of THE IRON FIST . WONDERFUL TO BE ABLE TO RELATE FACT—FICTION — LEGENDS —REALITY .. SEE WHERE MY FRIENDS FIT INTO THE PICTURE .
To sit back and think for myself about the FACTORY wars —- the shift in personnel—- the triumph of Mercury .
Doesn’t reach to the downfall of OMC —— the period between CK going and the tits up of OMC is yet to be written.
I have read various versions of the events —- i have heard straight from the horses mouth via JOHN SHELDON . I HAVE MY OWN VIEWS ——BUT THEY ARE TERRIBLY BIASED AND ONE SIDED .
I have known many OMC drivers —— personell——- personell that left OMC for MERCURY and VICE VERSA . It’s a story waiting to be told .

Another of my fifteen great grand children . ALBERT [BERTIE] STUBBS— with his sister STEVIE STUBBS [[SHE WAS NAMED AFTER STEVIE NICKS]]
Now both CARLEY [named after CARLY SIMON] and husband JOHNNY, are gifted musicians—- He plays a mean guitar and she can belt out some good jazz. Little Bertie just happens to be a whizz on the drums . So much so that he won a bursary for CHRISTS HOSPITAL SCHOOL. This is one of the oldest schools in England around 1400 ad . He plays the opening , and the closing ceremony each and every day —- he can actually make the drums talk. Plays most other instruments too.

Blasted “POORLY PAW’ is back again—— Attachment 497707bit of debauchery — mince pies and aged port —- didn’t help matters . Every so often the old. English complaint called GOUT rears its ugly head . I have had it in the trotters for years—- but a little white tablet a day generally keeps it “manageable”. But the left hand invader is a stone bitch. Been coming for the last week or so. Now it’s here and I’m laid low. A sad case of non productivitious. Damned i pad will be working overtime ——as i use the right forefinger to punch out messages and listing stuff on the market place—-keeping the wolf from the door —food on the table and soap in the sink, so to speak . You know the sort of thing i mean.

Mike ward has taken 30 years to compile a history of almost all powerboating results —for every class in GREAT BRITAIN and EUROPE. There are 3 volumes. Unfortunately i only received 2 0f the copies as two were alike .
Wonderful historical references. But just the results. Thousands of pictures——some quite rare.
But JUST THE FACTS—- At £55 it’s not an expensive publication— and very informative.
So why do i feel disappointed??????? Mike has been around almost as long as i have——knew almost as many of the participants as i do/did . Can’t fault the publication ——— except it doesn’t have a heart and soul somehow. All you have to do is look at the characters and realise ——they are all in there—- an almost perfect reference library without feeling ??????
I somehow feel that my own efforts at narrating a few maritime tales are not a waste of time any more. HAVENT touched the book this year— too many other things going on in what’s left of my life .
I will be doing a LASSE ——- lots of great boating piccies . But i will ask Mike Ward if its ok to use them. All the Bristol races are featured as well as the European events .
a hell of a lot of Americans took part in Europe—— they are all featured —— great reference to have on the shelf. THE “SEARACE” OF THE CIRCUIT RACING .!!!!!!

I have a shedload of cookie concepts ——- i just throw stuff together and then under the bench—occasionally my grandkids like a forage —- just to see if they can find anything that tickles their fancy.
I have had THE ODD mad architect come round and ask “HOW WAY OUT CAN YOU GET”—- THEY TAKE ONE LOOK AT THE OFFERED RESULT AND RUN. Guess the world ain’t ready for me yet!!!!!
It ain’t hurting you is it Fuji ???????

Is it really only eight months since the tulips were in full swing ??????

I do have the nose cone Gene —- picked that up at the scrap yard —- searched diligently for the rest —- found nothing yet!

Last visit to the Southampton boat show —some five years ago— time flies when you’re having fun.
My American grandson Gary Stray [the one married to my eldest granddaughter Louise] is now a full blown American . Has USA citizenship. Asked him why the hell he would do that ??? Told me he wanted to vote ?????????
Gary is boss man and crew chief of the newly formed HUSKI class 1 offshore race team. He’s been RATBAG to me ever since he started courting my grand daughter. Tells me a lot of secret sh-t on pain of extermination . He has got an exciting few years ahead of him—- lots of development— lots of new projects —Stevie Curtis on throttles will head the driver line up—— second boat will be ready for the new season . I do wonder what the driver line up will be ???????????
Louise is also a HARRY POTTER and a CHRISTMAS FREAK—- just take a visit to their house around now —- no wonder my great grandkids love going to auntie Lou’s and uncle Gary’s for dinner .
will no doubt post lots of piccies during the festive season .
“Back in 2015, Hartzell Propeller introduced a new five-blade, 105-inch diameter composite swept tip propeller specially designed to maximize performance for the Pilatus PC-12 NG turboprop fleet.
The new prop delivers better performance and reliability, allowing the PC-12 NG to cruise five knots faster, climb to a cruise altitude of 28,000 feet 10 percent quicker, and offer a 50-foot reduction in total takeoff distance.”
"The modern five-blade props replace original equipment Hartzell four-blade aluminum propellers, providing weight savings and more efficient aerodynamics resulting in quieter flight and higher performance, including takeoff distance, time to climb, and faster cruise speeds," said Texas Turbine Conversions President Bobby Bishop. The new 112-inch diameter, five-blade Hartzell props with lightweight aluminum hubs incorporate durable carbon fiber structural composite blades with FOD resistant nickel-cobalt leading edges.

THAT PARTICULAR PICCY WAS TAKEN AT THE GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED FIVE YEARS AGO. I did get to sit inside and savour the feel. But thats as far as it went .
Son in law is learning to fly at the Goodwood school of aviation.
Twenty minute trip in a spitfire has rocketed from £2000 to £4000 this last year at Goodwood .
I did have a helicopter pilots licence for a couple of years . ‘Twas the horrendous cost of keeping it that put me off. Never ever did pilot a fixed wing .
PRUETT put me off tiny sets of wings for ever !!!!!!
