Absolutely agree. They came here (Rochester, NY - Lake Ontario) in 1986 for the Coca Cola Offshore 212. All the big boys were talking about how they were about to race in a bathtub and it was going to be a piece of cake. The race lasted a whole couple of minutes with 10-12 foot seas before a few of the same people who complained crashed - hard. See the story below.

For sure, I lived in West Michigan for 35 years and have been on that lake when I should not have been more then once. I remember the Don Q 32 skater that needed to be recovered at the Saugatuck race along with several drive and engine failures back then. I lost 3 friends that were crossing from Grand Haven to Chicago "never found any of them or the 32 foot pacemaker that they were in".
