So I am guessing the P-1 class will be seeing a little bump up in speeds this year? Do they drive those boats like the offshore boats using a separate throttle man?

From what I've seen this trip, I would think come race day there would be damn near a ten mile an hour increase at the top end, from sixty four to seventy four mph. More bottom and mid range grunt should make for some close competition in the P1 class.Quote:

Different day-----different animal-------this one runs over 100 all day long------rock steady, no vices, thirty two foot tunnel.
Was on the water and off it before nine this morning!
I got to tick a lot of boxes on this trip, but I shall still be very happy to open up my workshop on Saturday and get back to the beautiful normality of my life, even though it's travelling much faster than anything I've been riding this week
Did manage to drop off the runaway lifetime express for a little while this week?

Mark took me to Orlando airport for the long haul back to London, he paid the upgrade so cattle class is left behind-------steak instead of sausage and mash---------bubbly instead of beer. Great way to end my USA visit.
Been a hectic week------done a lot of things-----my family make me feel very proud, happy to report they all have the get up and go needed to get ahead in life.
The United States is in good hands and will continue to thrive all the time you have families like mine working there!
A big thank you to all the people who have made me feel so welcome on every visit I ever made over.

This time last Saturday I was knocking on my sons door in Stuart Florida to surprise him on his 60th birthday. Here I am a week later ready for bed, having done what I usually do on a normal Saturday .
Had a a very nice easy day in the shop------made a couple of mounts for the wooden P1 trophies-----solved a couple of minor problems I had.
Tomorrow is Mother's Day, Jilly's daughter is treating us to lunch at the Avisford Hilton, guess I won't be getting much shop time this particular Sunday. No rush, not going anywhere soon and I heard "HURRY UP " died last week------it's all plain sailing from here on in!

As I said , it took five runs and lots of adjustments in height and angle for dangle to get the 300 hp Mercury to run the way he wanted.
I was only in at the final set up--------Craig had been working on the rig for two days previously.
Speed was up some ten percent on the old 250 Ermintrude, which was to be expected with the Extra 50 hp and lighter lump.
He just worked until he got everything right------handling, Speed, RPM and all the boats running true, fast, and similar speeds to each other, so that it's down to the driver to show his mettle without any equipment advantage.
Do those boats run with fixed trim angle and engine height? That would make them safer since you would eliminate the problem of driver error in these areas during a race.
