As I walked out of the crab shack after my lunch yesterday-------noticed a man eating his lunch wearing a COSWORTH shirt. Now these are not a common sight in Jupiter, so, me being a nosy old git with a with an inquisitive mind asked him what his connection was to the shirt???
Turns out he was a German Tech guy who had been at Daytona last week and was going to Sebring this week --------- afraid I ruined his lunch, but learned just how big the company was these days , and how many different fields of modern technology they were involved with.
All in a lunchtime break down in florida.
And----??
Even though there is documented evidence that it causes permanent hearing loss???:)

Gene: when we were developing the exhaust system for the rotary, we ran open pipes with people in the dyno room. I'm sure you have seen and used the portable sound meters, well it pegged ours so hard it had to be sent back for repairs. I remember the dyno room went into resonance at 4500 RPM and your stomach actually would go in and out 2". One has to remember the rotary is exhausting 100% of the time. It never stops. Both 2 and 4 stroke piston engines have rest periods.
Both 2 and 4 stroke piston engines have rest periods.???? Guess I'm a lot closer to a damn Rotory than I thought--------got no time for rest periods any more, Days dwindle down-------to a precious few----it has to be full on or hard-n-fast asleep.
Retire, work, Rest, and play----------whoever said that has not yet "Retired" or he's pushing up daisies-------you have to be five steps in front of the reaper, being smarter and faster also helps!

This one makes a bit of noise too!!! What'd Ya say????
Roger, I cannot imagine the damage to the eardrums that particular beast could inflict!Attachment 370172
Brought this particular beast over and a couple more just like it---------was going to give them to you or JOHN Schubert to finish off-------Craig saw them and asked if he could detail them a bit more and finish them off. Told him it was ok by me!
I have a couple already wrapped ready for dispatch to JOHN Schubert anyway-------yes I am a bit like the "road to hell".
To quote the "BEST INTENTIONS OF MICE AND MEN "-------in the true tradition of boat racing, -----today never happened!
A pair of Props off'n a 92' Pershing always takes preference over a P1 test session!
My ride is postponed until 8:30 am Wednesday.
Lying little sh-t Serra never did get in touch again--------five years he's been promising me a day's fishing--------every time I come over he's either sick, too busy, forgot, or found himself a hot new number--------- that, will always come before a fishing trip with an old comrade in arms! (little bastard) .
In the mid 70s a guy in Miami built an experimental unlimited racing airplane powered by two Racing Beat Mazda rotary motors. He flew it out of an airport where I worked on the crash crew. Every time he flew there was a rash of calls complaining about the noise. Most times we had to respond for his landings because his rear engine would overheat requiring him to declare an emergency. He finally ran out of money and gave up. Probably saved his life.
Every time we ran one of these at Blue Lagoon someone called the cops..
I understand this plane was so loud it made some ground crew sick.
