Chinky chairs and J.R.VanWilsons paintings-------No, I did not grow the tulips-----otherwise engaged.

Bitterly cold at the scrapyard for my usual Saturday forage, managed to work up quite a sweat lifting that damned great lump of metal into the back of the trusty Lexus.
Even from the "Recycling Facility" this chunk of 1:1/2" Alloy costs a fortune -----weighs in at 40 lbs.
Should keep me in gainful employment for a week or two.
Happy birthday to TRICKS !
Three years ago this week was when the "Tricks old boat racers get up to"
first started-------by now you would think I would know how to post pickies the right way up. Fact is, whilst I can use the internet and skirt the outskirts of the capabilities of a computer, a six year old kid can leave me standing. Type with both thumbs at lightning speed and have a conversation at the same Never even looking at the keyboard.
No point in worrying about it. I just enjoy using the net, talking to my friends in far off places, making a damn nuisance of my self on occasions, and using my index fingers to hammer away at the keys.
Must have attempted six different concepts so far in search of something that vaguely resembles the image my client has in mind.
Failed miserably up to now------does not like windscreens or canopies, bow rails or rubbing strakes.
He wants modern, suggestive, futuristic but plain. No particular boat, no particular design------but power as opposed to sail, outboard as opposed to stern or surface------ I know exactly what he wants in my own mind, trouble is getting the hands to make exactly what's in the mind.
Fact is, I have a free hand in what I can produce--------just as long as it's in the parameters he requires !
Its a bit like swimming with my hands and feet tied in four feet of water!
Had a seven hour day in the shop beavering away like a demented "Gippetto" (he made the original Pinocchio). Got a feeling I might have nailed it at last-------step in the right direction anyway !
No matter how much I try to do a "neutral" boat, they all turn out looking like something I've seen before--------Donzi comes to mind with this latest effort, with a touch of Mandela or even Schiada ?Definitly a tendency towards SK.
No piccies until I get it right.

Grandson getting ready for the "RUMBLE IN MUMBAI".
Thanks once again Bob--------you told me if I let you off'n the naughty step, you would teach me how to do that ! You can step down------you've done your penance.
Why the hell the authorities deemed it necessary for the boys to be in Mumbai for nine days before the race just beggars belief-------it's not as if they are not in gainful employment and roaming the streets.
Wonder what part of leading a busy life don't they understand ?
They will probably come back wearing Saris, eating curries and speaking Hindu.
Shop is beckoning and I have enough to Do to last me at least ten days, time to rise and shine and get busy.

Just giving you a sneaky peeky at what I've been beavering away at the last couple or three weeks. Still a long way from the touch line, but I'm over the half way line!
slight problem here-----client prefers wood-----more exotic the better------even wants the motor in wood.
At least I'm finding out the hard way what's wanted----should be fun furnagling a gear case.
I don't have any ebony------anyone out there got a chunk of 2 X 4 ebony or some such exotic tree meat ?
Ah well ! It was worth a try-------nobody's home I guess.
Thursday tomorrow------life's ride picking up speed---better hang on tight through the curves.
Jackie, that's quite a piece - always amazed by your work, be it metal or wood. I must admit to having a preference for the latter - wood has a nostalgic warmth about it - hard to duplicate. Love my concept of the Sprint Moli we both drove.
One thing missing - you didn't sign your work. Take a thin slice of wood, sign it (or etch your name onto it ) and I"ll glue it on!
Hiya Mark, don't doubt we'll see each other somewhere in the near future and I'll sign whatever you want------you're right about wood being tactile-------metal just doesn't cut it !
I have a rake of wooden boats at the minute, been chasing a big money commission so I've been making various models in both wood and metal to test the taste buds of the client..

Boat is in boxwood-----very exotic, close grained hardwood------beautiful stuff to work with until the grain changes direction. Motor is in old English elm-----always has delightful figureing but put clear varnish on it and it goes dark as a black bears arse.
Bloody Thursday again-------seems like every other day is a Thursday -------can't remember the last time I stopped and sniFfed The roses.
Quick forage for treasures at the car boot sale------lord only knows why I do it, buggered if I do !
Have to do some workshop maintenance and improvement------been in there a month and haven't even swept the floor once-------nice to have carpet underfoot-----but it gets messy.
