This has been on my brain, ALL DAY! Mostly because, the band name.."Mott the Hoople"? makes no damn sense! And a friend of mine, back east, kid started a garage band a few years back, just kids, and called themselves.."Free Beer!" And so when the played a small pub, the outside sign said "Free Beer, tonight only!" Now thats "all the young dudes!..gotta love'em..damn kids!:eek::p:thumbsup::cheers:

Mark, thats a brain burner to me, as a Nam vet, it was in the movie, "Apocalypse Now", which I was there in 69. Don't remember when the 3 hour plus movie came out, but I was back in the world for years, I DID not want to even see it, as KNEW, it could NEVER show the emotion, BS, heat/humid, Goddamn rain and mud, shot at daily, rocket rounds, shoved to us base camp, middle the night, just to piss us off, zero sleep, **** in a bucket, crap food,..BUT..grew up fast, meet the best kids known earth, lost many way too young, but ..I finally watched it late 70's. And have to say, I agree, the best depiction on Nam done. Thing is, ya need to watch the movie, and where the song was played in it..do a big screen, "LOUD" But have to admit, It was sure was done before Nam, but if ya see the movie, DAMN..."Profetic!"
And no harm, no foul, yer end, bringing it up...none of us really know "youths travels, and tribulations, "...too get where we are, and a damn good rip, fom long ago! Too bad he ended up, the .."27 group"..some go early, and we should listen to them I guess..:thumbsup:
