Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

Those eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed a rather large flaw on the near side sponson of the RIVA TUNNEL . This was right there from the beginning , but it was such a handsome piece of mahogany that i decided to let it ride —- simply see what transpires . Which is what i did ,and why there is a flaw .
on reflection - maybe i should have just binned the chunk of wood !! But at that time , it was all i had , plus, it was the last piece of my sainted mothers WALNUT table —- that turned out to be mahogany!

As you can see from the above piccies—- i have not been sat on my rectum all day. I didn’t lay the slabs—- paid someone to do it this time . Firs time in my life i haven’t done it myself. Reason—- lifting twenty five pound slabs gives me feckin backache and makes me like WILLABEE ——-CRANKY !!!
erecting a bloody comic cuts leggo style Gazebo makes my arm ache !!!!!!
Still trying to fathom out , how the hell i fix the sunscreen without totally losing my sanity.
SUPERSHED still looks like a midding —— nowhere near tidy inside yet. Really should make a concentrated effort, get it exactly the way i want it ———one day.

Any chance you could get one of your young relatives to get your sculptures out and photo graph them all?

Not even my most enthusiastic grandchild would take that on Pilgrim——— I left about fifty concepts with my mate NIGEL when i Left BOUZIGUES ten years ago in 2011—-

ROUGH count up yesterday—- around fifty pieces skulling the new shop [not counting those in the trunk]. Finally have the main workbench clear and tidy, all ready to start producing “SOMETHING”?
just have four more to go before I’m home and dry.
New lathe is all dusty—-i forgot to put the cover on it. Now here’s the rub. I didn’t put the cover on because i wanted to clean all the dross away first. Time goes on , it gets covered in dust. Back to the old chicken and egg situation .!!!!!!!!
temperature today forecast to top 80. Degrees—— tomorrow 0ver 85, i need to get the sunscreen over the gazebo fixed ——— its just draped over the framework at the minute —— even a gentle breeze and it’s flapping about all over the garden.
even with the doors and window open SUPERSHED was bloody hot inside ——- i played with the iPad —- discretion is getting to be one of my strongpoints ——- although i did fall out with a potential customer yesterday . Dickhead insisted he couldn’t make the shop until after noon———so i told him to leave it until after 2pm——- thats when the trouble started `!!!!!!!
OF COURSE THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT ——- UNTIL I DONT THINK HE IS .

This is the Gazebo that never had a mother or a father !!!!!!!
it is temperaneously fixed —— i refuse to work out there under a desert sun, it provides shade—- thats all that’s necessary at this time . Bon-Continuation pour la weekend.

Had one of those lazy good for nothing Sunday’s—- took the lounger out of the shed and laid under the awning for an hour, felt good. Second hour began to fidget—- not good . Lunch , then settled down to watch England play Croatia in the European cup. For a wage bill of five million quid a week, i expected more . Tired after 90 minutes play ??????? For the sort of wages those guys are getting , even at 89 years old i could have done better .
I’m told the the only thing that matters is the result ——-err in whose opinion ???? Ok. So they won —- if thats the sale purpose of the game ,then thats me done. I would sooner watch my great grandson MAX play for Brighton Academy .
Must be getting old ——- right ONIVA —- had my day of rest— decided on the next project —- head down— arse up and tally -ho, as Percy used to say.

i need a couple of close up pictures of Mertons hydro. With the single pipe .
thought i had some tucked away, but i can’t remember where .
Found a great lump of teak i might use —- failing that — ill just use a slab of aluminium .
i think i might have made a concept of this a few years back !!!!!!

sometime last week , i saw a few pictures of Bill Allen yanking the start cord on that single pipe straight six. Thought i might do another concept. Taken me all day to cobble a motor that bears some resemblance to it. ——- nearly done the Powerhead—- six plugs and a water jacket —— pipe is proving troublesome . What carbs did it have ???? Not a lot of piccies of that particular motor .

HOLY CRAPPEROOTLES—— THATS DONE IT. Looks like i will have to make a half decent job of this particular concept . Do have a little bit of „“ARTISTS LICENCE“ with the motor , but not that much !
William, do you remember the carb set up ?????? Was it three two barrels or the big three intakes ??
Ok , so twin stacks were used on the run——-not the single big bore pipe???—— I’ll have a crack at both set ups tomorrow and see how things pan out.
Thanks to everyone for all your help in providing historical phoggies —- these are rare as hens teeth, so i will respect that and try and keep it reasonably authentic.
Might have to create that 3“ mid section carefully. Gearcase wont be a problem, im getting better at those all the time . May have to invest in a prop—— RC boys are really tight arsed about the cast off wheels . Maybe James Sheppard or Roger will have a couple of spares skulling about in a cupboard some where . But if anyone out there has any going begging—- i will accept them gracefully.

Looking at another piccie of the carbs, looks like there were six single carb intakes —in line ? Need your advice here Willa.

WE wanted a house closer to the centre of the village, which it is . Finally got it the way it should be . There is room to put a couple of bedrooms and a bathroom in the roof —- but not for me , i just do not like stairs any more .
SUPERSHED is all but complete — equipment all in place —- garden is getting knocked into shape .
I started on Merts record breaking boat —— must be a bit rusty — i ate bear all day —- couple of disasters — but I’ve still got ambition !

Understand from Welch that the record run was done with stackers and not the single pipe Roy ???

sometimes i try to punch above my weight and get knocked flat on my Asse —— its happened a couple of times this week, i just pick myself up—dust myself off— start all over again .
As usual, i have a couple of the same thing going on at the same time ! Suppose the reason for that is, if i screw up one , i can always produce the other and pretend nothing happened .
Trouble starts when i screw them both up!!!!!!

Apologise to Willabee before he gets to see the motor —— tried six in line Tillotsons —— I couldn’t make em work. Trying 12 angled Venturi —— been all day getting nowhere —— its what i do best. well they tried different pipes — just to test the difference . S’all im doing, is the same sort of thing.
made a couple of motors —both in metal —- may yet attempt a wooden effort.
At least im back trying stuff again, was a time when i thought this would never happen again.
