I think It's really cool and nostalgic looking. Is it all decals?
Hi,
I have one of these. They are called the "Retro engine" and they were released by Mercury to celebrate their 65th year. They were produced and available at the latter end of 2003 in readiness for the 2004 the Celebrations. In Australia, you could only buy a 140hp Carbie OR a 150hp EFI. I have the 150hp EFI which I purchased on October 2003. However, in the USA I believe you had the choice of either 150hp EFI OR 200hpEFI.
In addition to the special 1968 look a like decals, you received a coffee table type book - "The Legend of Mercury" Jeffrey L Rodengen. It was personally signed by Carl's Son Fred. Fred Kiekhaefer wrote: "Time to Race. Time to Win. Win to Live".
You also received a Certificate of Authenticity showing your motors serial number and model number.. in my case 150XL EFI. This Certificate of Authenticity was signed by Pat Mackey, President Mercury Marine.
Other than that, the motor is a every day 150hp EFI but she sure turns heads.
