Tricks that old racers get up to after retirement

I did get to ride the Suzuki Rotory, was surprised how smooth and quiet it was, but again Johnno like all the other efforts at "Rotorization"------ it died.
At that time, I was impressed enough to think there might have been a future for rotaries ------but I was wrong!
Dont know if I'm ever going to get that bottle of malt----- medical insurance is prohibitive, in spite of the fact I never had a claim. No way can I justify being insured!
Workshop is up and running and I just started on a GP Laudabach or a Staudacher, not sure which, see if I can get away with it again.
Been snowing on and off all day, temperature hardly went above freezing, just turned up the heat in the shop and got on with it.
New shop turned out well, bit more compact but everything is in place. Don't waste time looking for things any more.

We got a houseful of people staying the weekend-------Ivan's wife Kate and the three kids, Olivia, Scarlet and Lucas. It's Lizzie's second birthday today --------- so it's great to have them all for a while.
Went to the Black Horse at Binstead for dinner last night------ kids behaved impeccably !
wont get much done today, teaching Lucas the intricacies of the Bow and Arrow, whilst I'm no Robin Hood, I am a tolerant teacher.
Finally stopped snowing, maybe that's our winter been and gone, one days snow should be enough for anyone !
Sound of kids, shouting, arguing ( discussing ) Pushing, shoving------where's my breakfast ?----bloody long time since I last heard that kind of noise--------no peace for the wicked------time I was out from between the sheets.

Lizzies second birthday so definately had to put in an appearance------that meant I didn't get much time in the shop. Did make a few inroads into the Lauderbach, got a couple of ideas on how to mount it. Finishing the concepts will be left in the very capable hands of JOHN Schubert-------I just don't have the patience or the capability as him.
Have four of them almost ready for shipping.
Having a spot of bother with the new Leica -------every time I try to download the pickies to the iPad Pro, , I get the same result-------not possible to download, as it is a RAW file This means basically-----the piccy is too good------too many pixels for a poor iPad pro . Maybe somebody out there can put me right.

Finally ----Craig's wife Jessica gave birth to a 9 lb baby boy, last night , just after 11 pm !
I now have 11 great grandchildren to match the 11 grandchildren' from the five children of my own !
Lets give a warm welcome to Broderick Valdez Wilson -------Maybe carry on the fifth generation of the Wilson boat racing family.

Unfortunatle I was late to the party, but got there as soon as I could. So glad I got to run my boat at Cadillac's, tour the Geico garage, visit Wilson Custom Marine, and hang with a great bunch of ole farts. (2011)

Not far off ready to ship to JOHN Schubert for the finishing touches .
Tail lights disappeared just before 10 am-----by ten I was beavering away like a long dog in the shop.
Trying to get all the concepts finished and out of the way before I start the next commission

Must have had a mad fit of depression when I started this------one thing for sure, there won't ever be another !
Finally cleared the backlog of half finished projects---- really must buckle down and do one at a time, all the way through to the finish.
Very first commission I ever had was from Jim Hauser for the old farts trophy. Had one or two since then ,
Rich Luhrs and Roger Hinsdale amongst them.
Decks are cleared for the new commission.

I made such a pigs ear of the stacks on the three motors originally that I decided new ones that were within a gnats cod of each other had to be bloody good this time round.
Any damn fool can spin up a megaphone------takes a lot of care and practice to make nine identical------but I managed it !
Had put off finishing the Triple for damn near a year------was a foolish undertaking, but I doubted anyone had been stupid enough to try, so I built the Jones.
Mark reckons he would like to finish it off ------says it's worth a little time and effort !
I just don't have the time , energy or inclination to fanny about with it any more.

We're up to double figures from here on in, (10 degrees c = 42/3 degrees F), looks like we've seen the last of the winter--------was light until nearly 5:30 pm last night. Another five weeks and the clocks go forward, a sure sign that spring is in the air !?
Im full of no confidence about this new commission------I can normally pick holes in what I do. That's mainly because I'm always in a hurry and I need to get on to the next piece.
Been offered not just a big bag of gold------but a sackful, and an opportunity to make a whole bunch more, (providing they like the first one).
What I do and how I do it , is left to me, choice of materials-----size and subject is also open. Herein lies the problem ! Can I do it ? Am I good enough ? Will the finished article be acceptable ? Pondered long and hard last night--------mind was leaping about like a demented grasshopper .
Will pick a chunk of something up and play about and see what transpires-----I have three months to do it, should be interesting !

Hey Jackie- just touching base. I spoke with one of the donators for props and they should go out to me Friday .
If all goes well they will ship out towards the end of next week. I think I have at least 8-10 in the first batch from 29mm to 45/49mm range and one big ass prop about 70mm. :cheers:
