Pulled this one one out of the scrap box------its a chunk of holly, has the most beautiful graining, bit like a shark-------tried to make it into a "Hal Kelly " kneeler------I happen to know Roger H. Likes wood with a bit of character!
Will stick a single pipe noise box on its bum--------see how it pans out, either way it will wind up at John Schuberts for finalization.
Forgot to mention that the fin was cobbled out of a very elaborate Epns cake knife that had a broken handle.Attachment 366776Attachment 366777
Hall marked silver with some great engraving-----not many Finns like that around!
Well, sod my old britches, if it's not bloody Thursday again------always seems to be "Rent Day"-----maybe it's a northern thing, I couldn't say for certain. Sainted mother always used to refer to Thursday as rent day !
Youngest daughter Sam is taking me out for the day as my annual birthday treat------never quite made it last year, heater skelter of life was whizzing too fast to get off so this year we made time for a day together.
Start off in Chichester------walk round eating a Cornish Pasty and a cup of coffee, just shooting the breeze------maybe go down to Portsmouth to Gunwharf quay for a spot of window shopping, who knows, lets just "Go with the flow".
There isn't anything I need, more jumpers, socks shirts and handkerchiefs than I will ever use.
Jackie...If you do make it to the Quay could you wander round to the Old Dockyard entrance area and get a snap or two of the WWII MTB and HSL that they keep parked up there...thanks if you can.
Re Gunwarf shops--they like to prise coin from the unwary visitor, never seen Rolex's glint as they do in that complex, keep hands firmly wedged in pockets is my tip!............Phill

Grandson Craig will not be driving the "GIECO"P1 one boat next season-----he will be right there in the thick of it with a brand new boat and a brand new sponsor.
Both Mark and Craig leave for Mumbai in a couple of weeks for the opening round of the World P1 Series, be interesting to see what transpires during and after the event.
Its a controlled formula series with rules and regs, handled right it could be quite successful in offshore racing-------
I find it difficult to believe that you can get 200 + Wannabee racers in the poker runs yet only half a dozen at best, class 1 offshore -------is this because it's being killed with "Rules" ?
Lets be honest------to see four or five 2,000 + HP fifty foot boats thunder across the start line is exciting biting------but that's as far as it goes------invariably one or two develop problems and slow, one will have a major problem and stop------then what's left is a procession to the finish line!
Im listening, if anyone has comments, please let's hear them !
Was told speeds were around 200 MPH--------from what I saw in Key West last year I'd gestimate around 135 was closer to the actual speeds !
Feel free to comment on this subject--------I actually know very little about this-------it's just my own views on what I witnessed over a couple of days!!
Poker runs kill more wannabees so its more interesting but not a spectator sport really more of a hairy chest, fat belly gold medallion, how much silicone can i fit on board event

Stitch em all together and stick a concept on top and "VOILA" half way there already.

Jackie: This engine is the remains of the Norton engine and actually is the largest number of drones produced world wide. Its been flying for many years now; like 10 or 15. It's produced in England and must help your tax situation immensely if the drone costs $1.5m. You forgot the Merc beater OMC 4 rotor.Quote:

Shoulda been called the "NEARLY MOTOR"-------- claim to fame ? One fast lap at Parker before it turned its toes up and died ( Along with its running mate )-------if it had kept going for another eight hours and fifty two minutes it might have won !
Six wins--------two by default-------by my estimation ,that works out at around two million dollars a win---------not a lot of companies could afford that, meanwhile around the world where hundreds of guys were racing the black beasts you could buy off the peg ( and winning) life went on!

Twas always said that when modern technology could make a rotor that would stand a bit of wear and tear, the rotary would prove itself------are we far enough down that road yet ? I mean to say, it's coming up fifty years since the valiant but failed rotary experiment!
I think the price tag of 1:3 million for a drone says it all !
The Suzuki engine was actually done with the help of Mazda. The Norton engine was the remains of the Fictel & Sachs engines of the '70's. We actually sold a bunch of rotaries in 1973 & '74. Many of which are still running 40+ yrs latter.
