Morning Stavros, leave for the hospital in an hour, praying it's all good news when we get there.Me myself am 95% better----even the thick lip thyndrome has nearly disappeared.
Walking on eggshells with Jilly, no sign of a let go yet, but I'm ready to pick up the bits the minute it happens-----amazing how strong and positive she is. I'm pretty sure when Matt gets over the hump and the relief sets in is the danger time for her.
have to act the idiot, goof off and joke about life or I wouldn't get through the day----tears of a clown just about sums it------thankful for the licence to wander, comes in handy in emergencies .
Gotta go, thanks for all your help my friends---talk later.
Hospital waiting rooms and I/c units are doleful places at the best of times, but when one of your own is ensconced in there it's a very unwelcoming place.
Spent too much of my life in these institutions and I normally avoid them like the plague, I had a mastoid when I was fourteen, they put a plate behind my left ear and told me I could never play football again , was in the Halifax Royal Infirmary for six weeks , was in the "Rec"playing with all my mates the day I came out, 70 years on I still got an open wound behind my left ear much to the amusement of all my grandchildren. I played football till I was 30 and then took up powerboating, sainted mother thought it was much safer than cricket and football, she always did have a warped sense of humour!!! Fell 60' off'n a mill roof and tore the tendons in my shoulder-----was one handed for 6months-----another week in the mend shed!
Triple by pass----- 2weeks in the shed again. ------ point I'm making is------I had more than my fair share playing doctors and nurses, I get no kick from champagne or hospitals.
YOURE lucky tonight----iPad ran out out of battery ----less than 12%___ so God bless all my friends everywhere MYGGWY.J.
Black Friday is tomorrow ----where do you get the bloody silly idea from that thanksgiving is a UKHoliday------Turkey birds are for Christmas along with Santa Claus, Christmas trees and plum duff----don't let anyone tell you different Tinkerbelle.
so whats the origin of black friday in the UK, to celebrate the second US invasion, amazon?
I'll have to check if its in OZ as well now.
The online overseas purchases are so big in OZ the government has noticed the lack of tax income as each person can almost spend AUD1000 but the government gets nothing ( china getting rich and the air freight companies)
No such loophole in the UK, only "Free" Trade within the EEC, prohibitive freight charges to and from the USA restrict trading to a minimum. Ridiculous Tax rates by the government on a draconian scale mean we are the only country in Europe actually reducing the national debt which in turn means we are penalised and taxed by the EU for being successful.
Jesus wept, how's that for an early morning lecture on world economics!
yep spot on Jackie
the western world is going to be ugly over the next 20 years unless you are already flying your private jet
How much longer before France collapses followed by Italy?
Spent the day at the city pretending to be the Southmead Bristol Hospital-------imagine a rake of fifty year old buildings----take a few dozen bull dozers a dozen JCB's----create a new Brunel hospital on a par with any Las Vegas hotel-----------now half finished------just a billion pounds to go----due for completion in 2016 and you get some idea of the scale of the enterprise.
Itlooked a bit like the United Nations in there, lots of Ukes, Romanians, Egyptians, Italians, Chinese , Japanese, Senegalese , Cantonese,Russian , Spaniards and polynese.bagheads and ragheads, skinheads and dickheads, Gurkhas and burkas , bad asse and fat asse-------it caters for all------and free for all------just your everyday sort of taxpayer picking up the tab.
Matt has improved out of all recognition in the last. 72 hours----has a horrendous headache, but 50% memory , , left eye has 10% vision, went to the gents room with some assistance. It's far more than we dared hope for.
When we came out, we passed the "Breast care" unit, tried for some gainfull employment, they told me there was no vacancies in the foreseeable future, one can but try!!! More later!
Blimey Jackie that's my local vets too, sounds like if I ever go there I,d need to take a phrase book along with my jimjams....
Shame you have to be over my side of the island in such circumstances, but it sounds like the little feller is in good hands and it goes
without saying all best wishes for him.
Phill.
Don was in Ward 21 at Frenchay about 4 miles distant....It was on a direct route from the city centre.. close to the M4/M5 intersection.. near a mainline
railway station and surrounded by prime building land but not for the advancement of the hospital..... you've guessed it houses!!
Hence where you were you today did you find a place to park OK?
No wonder Cary Grant scarpered as soon as he'd saved enough for a bus ticket.......(rant over)
By the way I found a copy of the '79 Bristol Programme..In the drives profile it labels you "The dour Jackie" I would post it if I could to give us all a smile
but I'm too much of a "thick 'un" to know how...How did that handle come about did you upset the lovely Rosalind?.
Have to get back up the road apiece tomorrow------several reasons for this------son Mark came hot footing it across the pond when he heard I had a brain fart, only to find I'd buggered off down country. Have to show a little bit of loving when he goes to all that trouble to see me. He leaves crack- o- sparrow Monday, back to Florida . The other reason is, I get fitted up with all the diodes and diagnostic gear to determine whether I am a going concern or a shivering wreck on Tuesday. Then Jilly comes back down to Somerset to see how Matts doing while I sneak back into the workshop for the first time in nearly a month -------------my, how time flies when your having fun and trouble in fair quantities.
had an hour on the blower with Mark today-------tells me he is never never ever leaving his beloved Florida again-------hates the English climate and can never understand why I don't spend the rest of my natural with him in Stuart ----------told him it would be a shame to have his citizenship application screwed up just because the old man stepped out of line.
Told him I'll be over for his boat launch, I want to see if it's as good as he thinks it's going to be.
All in all it's been a funny old week-----I've had better days-------blips and hiccups are for others now--------can do without them. Give me the simple life----as Ella used to say. "You take the high road ----I'll take the low road-----free from all care and strife, sounds kinda cheesy, but I like it easy----GIVE ME THE SIMPLE LIFE".
Rozz Knott was everyone's darling, she had those titchy little
boobs about the size of half a satsuma -----I used to give her a friendly peck on the right one every time we met-----she would always feign shock horror but never did draw back or say no.
She brought this tubby kid to the Brighton Boat Show and asked me what I thought about this crazy OZ who had just anhialated the World Water speed record (it was hot news about then), I told her he was a "Cadbury's". (Fruit and nut). She said "here Jackie------meet Ken WARBY "
Here we go, I've been rambling again----at least I didn't bore you to death with one of my old jokes, so I'm off to bed------to be honest I just have to turn the I pad off, turn out the light and roll over-------good night to all my friends MYGGWY.J.
There is nothing wrong with spending your last years with Mark in Stuart.
Bonny and I have lived here for the past 28 years.
It's warm, but not as bad as most of Florida.
There is a ton of cheap golf, plenty of fishing and family here for you.
i have some pretty good contacts in local law enforcements and can cover for Mark if you get. In trouble. I would cover for you, but I don't have that much time on my hands.
it sounds like your tough hide has carried you through this latest experience.
Charlie
Charlie, you are so right, my trouble is "JILLY,!" She loves the Naples side while I like the Martin County side------she loves the four seasons, even that 'orrible white stuff, me, I'd settle for perma summer---------trouble with golf is this old framework of mine------after just one round, every bone in my body screams at me DO NOT EVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN.
Fishing is the one thing I have left to look forward to, Jim HAUSER was always going to take me but ran out of time.
Mark keeps in tune with the Florida Sherriffs department and sports their stickers on all his vehicles, I asked him why----he just touched his nose and said DAD, TRUST ME! But I'll remember your kind offer Charlie. Anyway, I still would like a ride in that little ole bi-plane of yours that you throw around like Chuck Yeager.
Had a terrible night----did not sleep well at all-----threw up around 3am and was like a yo-yo to the bogerootle until 6am. Ok at the minute-----had a modicum of fodder------toast, tea, tablets and a banana------it's all still down there and it's gone 9 am. So maybe it was something I ate!!!
heading home after we've done the mandatory grand children's concert party-----should be home by 6pm------then there's a Wilson family get together at some pub or restaurant this evening------bet your sweet bippy I'm sleeping in for a few hours on Sunday morning------maybe just me and Mark will get to spend some time in the shed together. Have to give the workshop a good going over-----he hates an untidy shop.
Reason your getting an unreasonable amount of "Rambling " this morning is because the kids are doing homework and I'm "rear resting" (sitting on my bum doing nothing in particular) except annoying all my friends which always gives me a great deal of pleasure, (just like sex?putetre).
Leave for home around 1 pm 3/4 hours depending on traffic-----back to normality -----I like being me and in my own environment with my own friends around me or reachable!!!
Don't think you will hear from me for the next 24 hours, but like the proverbial bad penny------I shall keep turning up-----have a great weekend all of you, mine can only get better.
give you the latest update on Matt--------surgeons are well pleased, think they got ALL the malignant tumour------left eyesight is coming back, but slowly, speech is returning slowly, memory has a few holes in it, but it's only been four days-----very tearful, but that could be the anaesthetics coming out-----we have high hopes, his brother Ivan drove down yesterday with the Chemo in his pocket, how 'bout that for determination and support!!! He just needs a whole lot of loving, touching, and caring, then I think he can pull through.
Not only that peeps, I need to tell somebody about the whole bloody rigmarole or I would implode, as it is, I bore you to tears but it makes me feel much better, so once again thank you all my friends for your constant support. J.
Jackie - That's what we're here for - Steve & Iris
Thanks Stavros and Iris-----you've been bloody marvellous ------as you all have!
Matt hung on tight for a while yesterday, just wanted his mum , so it was five thirty before we left the "Citadel" which meant we will have the Wilson get together tonight instead.
Slept in my own bed last night-----seems like I've been sleeping in strange quarters for months-----not going anywhere soon for some time yet.
one weeks penance already done, just three more to go, then I can drive again, feel so damn useless sat in the passenger seat (and nervous) Jilly's good----but she's just not as good as me-------FACT------
I want a full English with two eggs over easy, crispy bacon, mushrooms, hot buttered toast and tomatoes-----a mug of tea----the Sunday Telegraph, and that's it.!!! Beard trim and haircut-----then wander out into the workshop and put my spot welder together------Mark brought the tongs over with him-----life is returning to normal.
Will get back to you during the day and tell you how their hanging!j.
Sorry 'bout your bad or good luck according to your point of veiw that I didn't get back to you over the last couple of days. Been up and down the country like a yo-yo, ca
All I did was slide my index digit across the face of the I pad and it all went pear shaped. Been the story of the last week----one of those best forgotten.
did get to go to the Pizza Hut Sunday night with most of the Wilson clan (23 of us), caught up with most of the grand kids -------telling me of their dreams and aspirations
Carly is married to Johnny Stubbs who is a session guitarist, he has landed a cracking job working for "Fender" selling and teaching guitars----bet DONMAC could manage that one!
Jilly has taken off for Bristol, she dropped me off at sister Ange's place in Hamble------didn't quite feel up to making the trip so I passed on that. Just hate the passenger seat, not being able to drive is a bummer------feel like a spare dick at a wedding.

How 'bout that peeps--------any of you guys out there got any idea what these two phoggies are of?
Betcha a pound to a pincha Butler knows exactly what they represent.
Give you a hint---------"OUTBOARD AND RACING HISTORY".
Your 1st V6?
Dave
Well Bloody Hooray and Sod My Old Britches, that brought all the old knowledge boxes back into play-----"The Willa" is alive and well----------as he so often reminds me--------Gar Wood and Malcolm Campbell were mere nippers when I had my first boat-------Pontius was a Pilate------and they still were waiting to launch Coca-Cola and Budweiser .
It's nigh on midnight and you all know I have to be in deep slumberland by the witching hour or I turn into a pumpkin or some such pudding or pie-----got another rest day tomorrow, so will continue to dribble drivel all over the S&F pages, goodnight my very valuable friends, MYGGWY.J
There is a thread on here from a guy that worked on the v6 project along with many photos including testing with omc twin barrel carbs
Yesterday we were dealt one of life's sh-ttyiest hands, then I had a second stroke just to compound the issue-------found the Merc V 6 site Tinker--------need to cram a lifetime into the next few weeks. Hate ambulances, back to hospital today, never made S&F yesterday, be no time today.
Mark is excited with the Lake X Files. Got the worst possible news on Matt, sorry it's doom and gloom, promise to get back to normal soon, have to get Jilly to hold up, believe it or not, this dopey old thread with my crazy friends, gives me the lifeline------fifty five years of boating finally paying off, bless all of you. J.
Hang in there Jackie. Your friends are riding with you on this run.
Hiya Johnno, remember all the online "DISCUSSIONS" we had long before we ever met, we were fit to punch out each other's lights------when we first met face to face at the old farts, we just shook hands, had a big hug and I realised what a twat I had been, rest is history.
Waiting in the kitchen , suited and booted, ready for the hospital, just precautionary I suppose, I'm quite understandable on the phone apart from sounding like I had a smack in the mouth ( say nothing Johnno, or Willa, I know I left the gate open).
Will probably be lots of jabber wacky and ramblings in the near future, like most old races I love to talk boats and racers, motors and engineers, events and eating houses, should"as----could"as---would 'as, you know the hogwash we talk-----but were entitled. Time to go, talk later.
I simply cannot believe I never read the V6 Merc history thread-------YOU ALL KNEW ABOUT "OLD BLUE " you have ALL farted about for over 7years, dithering like a bunch of old washer women on a Monday in the market square------we didn't BUY that piece of priceless history, We STOLE it.
Rich and Sam, you should be arrested for loitering without intent, the question begs,------DO AMERICANS CARE ABOUT OUTBOARD AND RACING HISTORY ?
Mercury present day don't give a rats asse about yesterday and apart from Butlers "Little Red" have done next door to sod all to preserve their history.
Lets face it if it wasn't for fact there are a few well heeled enthusiastic ex boat racers made good ALL the old engines would be used as anchors or mooring buoys.
Had a lot of time on my hands the last couple of weeks so was able to read the full history on OLD BLUE----I still find it hard to believe my family has such a huge piece of Mercury history for the price of a round trip ticket to London .
Hum to the tune of Tom Dooley
Hang down your head Old Blue boy
Hang down your head and cry
The English will come and save you
We'll never let you die.
even the hospital realises there is no urgency, the old fart ain't going anywhere.
Jackie:
Remember...Nothing is ever as bad as it seems...nor as good as it seems. You hit the nail on the head. It is the friends we make who share our passions that make life worthwhile. As we all share a few laughs, life is good.
Hope to see you soon. In the meantime Doreen and I are watching "The Tudors"....on Showtime ...to better understand your genetic makeup.
fingers crossed here
RE T2x's tv, the character Claude Greengrass came to mind from the TV series Hearbeat, lol
Best wishes Jackie
Now you are piss taking Tinkerbelle ----maybe it's my home county but that's as far as It goes, besides I don't have an eye twitch, or a mad sister and have a healthy dislike of skanky dogs and simple nephews.
Been on "FACETIME"with Mark for the last hour who has been perusing the pages of the Lake X Files for the last two days-----and wetting his knickers with "thrillment "it appears I could put out two news items daily, for the next two years and we could only empty three of the fourteen volumes.
How about this for starters, wooden Switzer wing, June 1966,reached 104 m.p.h driver D Craig.
I could even tell you the load, total weight, pitch and diameter of prop, angle of attack, there is no hiding place for lies in this manifest.
