I know some of the guys who made/ make cutaways at Merc Exhibits - you would not believe the time and expense that goes into something like this - this ones is easy compared to cutting a Verado in half today! Note they are cut about a half inch off centerline so the internals don't fall out. Making them motorized was even worse, they would hide a drive motor in the starter housing - but people would stick their fingers in by a piston so something so very few motorized cutaways were ever made - a twin cyl. 644 snomo engine was made motorized but had a plexiglass cover to keep fingers out!
