It's that damned rent day again------better get off the butt and repair to the "Booty" -----can't make a fortune sat on your fanny unless your Monroe or MaeWest.
Treasure hunting time again!
Was one of those days when I bought less than I sold--------or another way you could put it is :------I sold more than I bought, took a carrier bag full of stuff I didn't want eg readers -drill bits Brass folding engineers rule. Bloody tool dealers were like termites digging into the stuff I'd brought------that won't happen again. Even had one bright spark wanting to know if he could come and look what I had to sell-----soon told him to straddle the tandem-------sex and travel mon ami.
Had another of my mad fits of depression and started another concept------trouble is, I have to be a lot closer to the actual, whilst I can claim "Artists Licence" , too many genuine enthusiasts know this thing like the back of their hand, so, I have to be a bit careful. First attempt is hardwood mainly English elm--------beautiful grain. If I just polish this one it's bound to piss the little bugger right off as he has a boat with a coat of many colours--------the rainbow and then some-------lets just wait and see how the cookie crumbles.
Meant to show you a piccy of. The new concept---------damned LIECA is locked up in the shop, duh ! Getting to be a bit of a dingleberry these days.
Jilly booked a trip to Venice, then Lake Garda, with a week cruising on Cunards "Queen Vic" we leave next Wednesday -------start of the next phase of life's exciting ride.

Twisted and glued up all the necessary bits needed to make a tunnel----- pulled a lump of off'n the shelf -----(just to show you which end is the sharp one.
Elm has turned out nice, fantastic configuration, trouble is, if I polish it-----I can never get rid of the silicone deposits which create havoc with paints and lacquer.
See what I feel like over the weekend.

Little lizzie being shown some of the finer points of Beatrix Potters "Peter Rabbit" by grandma Jilly !
you da man
Mr fun------you played golf with Bill Baker two years ago at the OFF tourney, so I asked him your name ' cos I forgot ( do that a lot these days) he couldn't remember either!
You playing with the old farts again in November?
Called my daughter Sam ( you were talking to her on the jetty) she couldn't remember either, suddenly I don't feel so bad!
Apologise for not remembering your name--------do remember you're putting distance from Mayo!
Youre not alone, Bakos and Blair have yet to confirm they're playing-------time to get rear in gear and lets know your intentions!
yea, everybody remembers "FUN" ,,, that's good enough for me! really enjoyed meeting you and Sam, Bill and Betty, Captain Seebold and Tim, Rich and wife, Sog and his wife. not going to try and make the golf event this year, an extra day of no income, things are tightening up at this time before the election, trying to as you say "cobble" together a "77 17 ft Action to bring and run, so watchin the pennies closely, looking foreward to seeing you again. fun out :D:cool:
Best of luck in all your endeavours Mr. Fun------I'm certain you'll make it to the main event ok.
Sog had a rough time this year but is now well on the way to being his old self, don't think he will make the old farts either!
Rich's wife's name is Doreen by the way?
Jilly and her lifelong friend Roma decided to go to the new found theatre in the basement of Selfridges to watch a modern day version of "as you like it"------ one of Will Shakespeare's comedies.
Simple----yes! ------no trains to London from the south of England due to track maintenance. That meant I had to drive them up to Horsham ------hang around for nine hours-----then collect them.
To kill nine hours I decided to go visiting------first up was go see my daughter Boo (Tracy)---- she's a school teacher with very different views to myself, invariably after just an hour or so , we wind up getting into a heated argument------true to form, that's what happened. Time to move out!
Then went to see my youngest daughter Sam------her and Clive (husband) were building a new lean to log store with a tiled roof! After four hours we had the job done and dusted-------roof on and watertight. Time to head back to the station and pick up the mistress.
As you may have gathered----I didn't get any shop time Saturday-------made up for it today though, got five hours in, with some good "Quality" time.
Decided the direction I'm taking for the next six weeks--------will finalise all the "In Progress" concepts first, and then do the four pieces that have been rattling around in the cell box for a while now------if I get a wriggle on, I should have something for Tavares .?
What lit the candle for this sudden flourish of activity was a chance remark from one of my grand kids.
He looked at the job I was working on and said "LEAVE IT"------ what do you mean, leave it, it's only half done. Doesn't need anything else------it'll never be any better than it is right now, it's beautiful, lines flow into each other------symmetry is spot on-----any more will spoil it.
Out of the mouth of babes ?!
I left the piece for a few days, haven't touched it, the more I look at it the better it is------funny how you get a picture of the finished article in your head------tunnel vision takes over and lateral takes a back seat. Detail is not always the answer------maybe I should "keep 'em guessing".
Beautifully said. thanks for your thoughts. you inspire me. fun out
Well Mr Fun, happy you get some inspiration from my ramblings---------they don't cost anyone a red cent. Ninety five per cent is Nonsense, but it's sincere nonsense-------most of the folk who read this are lifelong friends. Grandson once asked me how many folk read the Tricks column? ------I told him I get about two thousand hits a week, ------- he looked me straight in the eye and quipped--------so, you got twenty friends who look at it a hundred times a week ! Ha Ha.
Sir, I'm sure you've forgotten more than most of us can learn. I'm honored that you remember me.
I hit it at least 3 or 4 times a day...I don't enter too much in the way of script because I cant complete with you high steppers for detail and experience
but most days it leaves me with a smile on my face, so somebodies doing the right thing.
Phill.
