how will poor Bernie cope with a 10 mill salary after taking about 100mill a years for years?
With great difficulty Pilgrim------life can be a bitch when your on the bread line------let us not knock Bernie in his hour of greed---------sorry, that should be "NEED"
For all his faults-----he did it on his own------and made the odd shilling or three along the way!
Just looked at the weather forecast Phill, "Heavy Rain" -------Goodwood Will be a Quagmire by lunchtime. Webbed feet and wellies . Will be back in Sussex by 14:00 hrs-------Been up in Herts for daughter in law Kate's birthday. Had a big party at the "Fox" in Hunsden last night, some great girls there!
Tiff Needells father did the race reports on the 1978 World OZ race in the UK .I met Tiff at Carr Mill last year he spends a lot of time supporting boat racing these days you mentioned Murray Walkers name who was useless as a boatracing commentator didn't now his arse from his elbow you can go now on you tube and listen to his commentating for the World of sport at Bristol he can`t even tell you who is leading the race on the first lap.
maybe so Steve-----but the guy is lovable-----90+ and still going strong!
Glad you remember Murray's memorable comment in Bristol---------That's the day I became a "SOMEBODY"------- 'Twas me in front when he uttered the immortal words------SOMEBODYS IN THE LEAD" He had all the factory drivers on his spread sheets, I was not supposed to be there!
When my grandson Craig was running the P1 series in Europe. 2007/8 Tiff was very active in the series, I saw him at quite a few of the races-------Marseille ------San Bernadetto, -----Cowes. Last time I saw him was at Silverstone four years ago, got Vip tickets for my 80th birthday.
Murray Walker also did the commentating on the FONDA race in South Africa around 1984 .
Thanks Jackie and Steve....The reason I broached the subject is that we are hoping to get Tiff up to give us a talk.I enjoy asking our guest speakers questions about other interests they have other than their main topic (in our case cars)..
It p**sses off a few of the listeners who only want to hear the core subject, which adds to my enjoyment some!!
Kept Mike Costin chatting about gliding for 1/2 hr once full of interest...only supposed to tell us about Cosworth
Mike is a very accomplished glider pilot and can talk for hours about his hobby.
Bill Browns hobby as of course boats----he could sail a Laser quite well!
Ben Rood used to build X class hydro engines ( HOGANROOD? Comes to mind)
They were a clever bunch at COSWORTHS !
Keith Duckworth was the one that could keep you spellbound on all things--------didn't matter if it was factual, theoretical , impossible, historical or pisspotical -----I have talked on the phone with him many a long hour about nothing in particular ---------he would take the most complicated theories and put them into laymans language that even a simpleton like me could understand .
Keith's other hobby was helicopters-------my first meeting with him was when I was interested in buying his Brantley!
He later bought a five bladed Hughie 500------ Barry Sheene bought the identical machine from a guy in Ireland exactly ten days after I took him for a ride in a piston Enstrom.
But that's a tale for another day.
Sunday, nothing planned, no visitors, might even get a day in the shop.
looks like wall to wall sunshine all day-------we have a couple more days next week when it's supposed to be high70/s. We are truly blessed with an Indian summer!
Last day of the Goodwood Revival---------good time to stay home-------the whole area around here will be gridlocked---------choppers and light planes including the spitfire will be buzzing the village all day, back to normal tomorrow.
See that Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world------belongs to the founder of "NEXT"-------a spaniard who's name does not come to mind immediately .
Petra Ecclestone, (Bernies daughter) just lost her husband, took his own life apparently ----------just goes to show money doesn't always bring happiness !
Having said that------the odd shilling or two in the pedal and crank, (Bank) tends to make me smile !
Jackie, DHL attempted to deliver your package Friday, but Margo and I were not at home to sign for the delivery. They will be back Monday with the goodies. Will let you know how the packaging made out.
Roger------I just answered this on the "Golf tourney at Zellwood " thread--------I'm getting to be a real dingleberry these days.
If it's not nailed down then I lose it------when it is nailed down I trip over it----- abandon hope all ye who enter these portals!
As I was saying-----48 Hours, door to door------50 pound parcel less than $100.
Thats a far cry from the $800+ I paid for the trunk with the trophies in last year, I might even cover costs at the auction, with a fair wind and some generous buyers.
If you fancy any of the stuff I sent you, either Email me-----or PM-----or telephone #44 1423-545-906.
If I'm not in----I'll be in the shop, but I refuse to have a phone in there------not even a mobile,----I cannot spend time on the phone------it interferes with workshop time!
I had a full six hours in there today-------tried a new method of stitching an all metal tunnel boat together.
Show a piccy tomorrow -----see what you think!

Thats what you're looking for Roger------I wrote on it 20 KGS-----BLOODY HEAVY ,!
Stuff's here! Box looks to be in good condition - haven't opened it yett - waiting for my 1st mate.
Just wondering why you put 20KG on it? Nobody over here knows what a kilogram is. The metric conversion is a politically correct joke they played on all of us. Stupid and unnecessary - except to sell new tools and equipment. Of course NASA screwed up on one of their missions where they messed up on the conversion, or didn't convert.
Also very unusual that this is the 1st post in "your" blog - damn I hate that word "blog" ...if it is a word.
If you can't be good ...be careful
It's a well screwed system where never the twain shall meet-------we went metric in the seventies!
We Buy petrol by the barrel which equates to gallons, and it's sold on the forecourt ( garages and filling stations) in litres-------the odd thing is all the car manufacturers quote MPG-----miles per gallon-----it's easy if you remember there are 4.45 litres to the imperial gallon------petrol gauges generally show how many gallons the tank holds.
Shopkeepers have generally hated the metric system--------fruit and veg is still sold in pounds and ounces even though it's illegal to do so------we did away with pounds, shillings and pence-------or did we? What we did is alter the amount of pennies to the pound------there you have it------the rough guide to metrification
By the bye Roger "I've always been good, but rarely careful"
Just discovered I left the tilting trailer on the planer, the one for the four pointer. There was not enough room left in the box anyway-----still have to send another box to Mark, and I can take another 20 kgs on the plane!
Did my annual "well man" visit to the surgery this morning------in pretty good shape considering, should make Tavares skidding in at over 100 mph.
