Just like anywhere else in the United States ... they only own up to the seawall / property line . Many "more dollars than sense" people that live here in Martin County think they own the river or Ocean all the way to Europe. Most don't even relize that the county has an easement between them and the water ... they just have water "access" ...;)
Demeanor, Wife loves the cooler!!! Nice quality... THANKS!!!
For those interested....made a little video of our fun Saturday and Sundayhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss6MG...YngF-juxQnEaIA
Outstanding!
It different from place to place, deed to deed. What applies to one might not to another. Should be able too look up the info on the counties website if you wanted straight answers.
Heres the map and I think this is it. You can see the neighboring property lines appear to extend out into the water beyond docks. The one I think we are talking about does not and appears to end at the shore. Even their dock appears to be on public land which could be intersting if you wanted to tie up there. Im not a lawyer but someone with more experience might weigh in.

I would keep a copy of that with me should I frequent the area :D
the buzz is its going to be apt,s and condos and like they said most lots own out in the water a ways for docks etc
myself i dont see law enforcement enforcing it to much but if you are told to move on best to listen for your own safety
For me it's more of a curiosity, than a need to know.
If there is a seawall , then the line would be pretty definitive . A beach type property on tidal water would have a lot line that would be forever moving. I doubt they take an average.
I think a surveyor would make for a more accurate means than a county office ... At least they wouldn't make you ask your question in triplicate copies ... :smiletest:

Sorry for the delay.. I missed most of the boats Sat. because of my trailer issues on the way down to the keys. and 90% of my footage was not usable because of my crappy gopro mount. Every time i hit a wave it would shake the camera bad. But here's my Video.
