To be truthful, the slip numbers on Joe’s 360 are significantly lower than this 28 Skater. I suspect it’ll actually get faster as things get figured out. That being said, I personally don’t agree with the platform they’re bolted to, but this is a free country (for now)

We went thru the traps at 14 mph (30 is maximum speed allowed). There is a bunch left on the table for the shootout number. We might have to get serious about it and run the 32 this year. I think Chaz is going to need to see 150 in the 32' or 135 in a 42' before he accepts the fact that there is no looking back and no other outboard will compete with the new Mercury power for the distances and speeds we are running. We logged 300 mile days several times this year and pump fuel was available everywhere we stopped as it was needed.

If you watch the video in post #1 @ 2:02 minutes, you will hear Hunter state that it was 48* that day. I promise you that is not a typical S. Florida day. Today, five days later it is currently 75* and partly sunny.
The dog days of summer it's not unusual to see 98 degrees, in the shade.

How much effect will 27 to 50 degree's warmer weather have on performance ?
I would expect to lose somewhere between 2-4 mph. The Hellcat alumalung with electronically controlled boost control valve attempts to keep the engine’s observed HP the same day to day. That being said, once the valve is closed, there’s no more compensation. On the other hand, I’ll guarantee it’s open in the situation we’re discussing here (with the wild assumption it’s really stock…)Quote:

I don’t like the price of admission any more than you do, but as long as people can afford to buy them, they’ll be stretching what they can out of them. I am finally going to make the Alva run. I wonder which is more nerve racking for Warren 125 in the STV or 135 in the Skater :D he looked mighty relaxed in the Skater. I hated when 4 strokes took over the motocross world until my first lap on a CRF450. I am liking the big boat 4 strokes but still haven’t seen anything for our world YET.
been away a long time good 2 b back.the stv runs 131.the skate has a lot more waiting on 40 pitch props .my 38.s r all over the limiter boat should def run 140.its super stable love the boat.much more to do with the skate.missed alot of u guys thanks 4 the compliments.the boat was running the same in 80 degree heat as 50 degree.may have gotten there quicker but still running 135.

Please be careful in that 28. Many Skater hulls, the 28 included run with bow lift to hold the hull up. You will notice the attitude of MTI's and DW's run very flat with negative trim. At some point the hull is going to blow over just like the 36 Skater that was in a Shootout (or was it a Kilo) run trying for 200 mph. I have owned 4 Skaters and they all like a little positive trim. I would encourage you to look for a bigger hull with that power. Joe P is running 138 with the same power in his 36 DW.
brad i know u have had multiple skates.like me it does ride bow high 4 sure it flies soo perfect with everything in the front no awkward feelings what so ever 4 me we all know bad things can happen im all in with this boat cant afford anything bigger no room as well i feel no hesitation at all with running 140 with this boat waiting on wheels now it will def do it .im going out 1 more time with theese wheels gunna run liitle trim not much to get slip down will mess with the hyd jacks a bit to see if can get slip down its a little high shoild go a 37 or 38 with these if can get the slip down just a bit.but new wheels should def run a 40

Yea, we gotz a wood chipper thats a touch big, but we can bypass the extra, so you won't be workin on it when the air gets good and the mallet boys would be spittin the bones out of it .. great , I'll take 10,000 of em .. :smiletest:
For everybody else it's more like 10-12 mph. Summer here is roughly 3500' above.

I think if you go to a ramp in average town USA (I like to boat in Ft. Pierce, cuz my junk looks brand new and I look skinny) ;) you will see boats, motors and trailers that don't add up to the cost of one "mega-chop". But I guess it good that they are available for guys that are willing to spend that kind of money for an outboard motor. Like a new Jim Smith or Ribovitch, most can't afford one of those either. :leaving:
I have driven a 3.4L and a 300R both were singles. I about crashed the 3.4L boat into the dock ..owner told me he just lubes the shift/throttle cables ... touchy fly by wire ****e ... :eek: :o Not for my old azz ... :nonod:
Acceleration is what you get use too. I never started winning until I got bored to tears with what I was in at the moment ... :D
Seeing boats with a real rub-rail ... does tend to show the "mega-chops" true weight .. but lunch times over .. it's time to go earn another twenty bucks ... :smiletest:
