I would argue that most manufacturers are running stock considering these are smaller companies most likely developing product on an individuals wallet that aren't willing to totally void the warranty on almost $60K in motors just to post a number that their actual production product can't duplicate. That's one sure fire way to piss off both current and future owners.
I mean really, the whole argument for switching to outboards is to lower the cost and provide more boating time and less repair time. If all you are going to do is substitute one hand grenade for another what's the point?
