I know alot of people think a 300x is faster than a 300xs, but I have NEVER found this to be true UNLESS the boat runs over 112-114 where the 300xs with a 34" prop runs out of rpm at 6400. Iv'e rigged a ton of identical boats with both motors and the same setup and props. They always ran EXACTLY the same speeds. The 300x may accelerate a bit quicker using a smaller prop because it can turn more rpm. With the same prop, a 300xs may have more midrange torque due to being stroked, but that's just an opinion.
I hear ya Randy. It has been a great debate for many years. Having owned both I am on the other side of the fence and found a 300x on my type of boat will smoke a 300xs. 308 xs powered skaters run right around a 100mph with a good set up and light. Upper 90's is more realistic. My boat is consistently 10mph faster across the board and hangs with the might 400r's.
The experience I've had is with 21 and 25 Liberators and 21 and 24 Checkmates and a 24 Skater. Just my experience though.
Well looked at the boat today. The motors are 300X, pics attached. Very interesting.
Cool but they are 25" motors. Is that what you need for your boat?
Well I am looking at the boat itself. I just wanted to know which motors they were.
My concern is with the transom. My moisture meter when really high reading 45-60. Read 7-8 on the hull itself.
Also was concerned with stress cracks in splash well.
Those cracks are strictly cosmetic. No issue at all except the appearance.
So how did the boat look otherwise? Its a 35 donzi zfc, correct?
I am passing on this Donzi. It was in rough shape. Hull and paint were in good shape. Switches and dash were in fair to poor. Upholstery, fair with the seat on the front of the center console torn. Cover is shot, windsield needs replacing. etc...
The Transom tested at 60 % moisture- max on the scale for my setting on my moisture meter. Moreover I took a good look at the pictures I took of he bilge. It is readily apparent this boat sat for an extended period with water in the bilge. My 24 year old Scarab Sportster had a better looking bilge then this boat does.
That coupled with the stress cracks indicating a flexing transom....
Not bying someones elses problem.
sorry pic is upside down....
OK - since Donzi # 1 didn't pass the smell test going to look at Donzi # 2. Its a 2000 with twin Promax 300 and they have the 6100 rpm limit. I have a pic of the serial tag.
