Not many family members getting in that beauty though.
i have a friend who owns a 24 Checkmate bowrider with a 300 XS for power. He isnt getting but 65-70 MPH. Has tried different props, engine heights, all the normal setup stuff. Can anyone reccomend a good setup for this rig?
The 21' checkmate br benefitted from as much bow lift as you could get. I could not find a prop with more now lift than the Yamaha t1 series of props. I tried tempest+, txp 3 blade, hydromotive, etc, and nothing was as fast as the t1.
When i had a Verado 300 Pro on my 24' BRX the best top speed i got was 69-70 mph so your friend isn't off the mark, folks say that apples to apples the 300XS is a bit faster than the Verado 300 Pro so I'm sure with a bit more experimenting there may be a couple more mph in your friends boat.
You wanna see a pissed off wife? Tell her you are driving to Detroit to pick up a family boat, then wheel in the driveway 2 days later with this behind your truck.Attachment 374986
21 pulsar//250xs//done right 80-85,safe unreal fule milage with the 250,good in 2-3 footers, fun on flat, ski, tube, open bow version, I bought a new star liner 21 checkmate open bow in 89 perfect for my 4,,iv a 21 pulsar now,250xs 10 "bobs,83 mph with 3-4 anyone can drive it!!!
My Starliner is great with 4 people. 21 foot open bow with a 250 merc., its solid 70's and cheap to run. However, I am in an area that's can get real rough. I am looking to go bigger soon, the 21 checkmate seems to be a good option, the open bow makes the boat more family friendly. I all depends, I have 2 -8 people that want to go so up to 4 or 5 the Starliner is great. If you are using it for a lake I think you would be real happy.
I dunno....I don't think I would buy a pulsare 2100 for rough water. My dads 19' procraft bass boat took waves better. Too bad superboat didn't make an open bow 21.
I just gotta say this, there are not to many 21 sobs out there good for rough water. People say 2' to 3'? Seriously thats pretty big water and I wouldnt want to be out in that with my family. Now a 24' Superboat or Checkmate are a totally different animal. Fuller has a 24 super that runs thru stuff that puts my 21 on the trailer. Reality check. JMO
I've said it before I'll say it again the Laser 380 ray is one of the best all around performance boats. The trick is finding one in good shape.
