Brings a whole new meaning to a “tunnel” hull.
...it was a simple hull experiment to try, at the boat builder/manufacturers level. back in the original steve stepp/velocity days in pompano beach, we simply layed in the appropriate diameter & length PVC pipe into the 30 foot hull mold & did the same thing as above. we named the boat the "VelociSlot" 30 footer. it ran o.k. with Merc Hi-Perf outboards. nothing earth shattering.
...They are/were your typical, good design, fast pad bottom, transom stepped V-bottom. depends on the speed you were going, of course. at faster speeds, the boat was up on just the pad, just as it would be if it did not have the "slots". soooo...no water exiting the "slots". 30 velocity had a 12'' wide pad. 38 velocity(which was closer to being a 40 footer) had an 18'' wide pad. we built a number of very cool "One-Off" design boats that you never hear about.

...yup, basically the same as what that stream page said. one coat of parting agent only, on the PVC pipe & nothing sticks to it. pops right out of the mold clean...
