Chambers is the one that bought Dade Marine in South Miami after I went to Nam. Renamed it C&W Marine. I think Charlie Wolff had been running it. Ken Wilson ran it after Bob Waldo left for the Keys. When I left DeMaria Porsche Audi and started Porshop in North Miami, Waldo came to work fo me as an engine builder. He rode his BMW M/C from the Keys everyday. One day when He, Jack, and Stan and wives were at breakfast, he just laid his head on his wifes' shoulder and died. Had a stroke. Do you remember the plane that crashed on 36th street? I think it was a DC3. It crashed in Bob's fathers' back yard.
I guess this should be in Hot Twins since the DC3 had two engines.
What year was Dick Williams running the #24? In 1970 and 71 that was my number.
Butch—you must mean the FOUR ENGINE DC 4– crashed ON 36th— I was driving the Chief —-when we finally arrived 36th was covered with plane parts -building parts- car parts and body parts. 1969? About a dozen people were killed- including 2 brothers working in their Dad’s car shop——Quote:

I worked the Christmas Tree crash. When I started out on the Fire Department I was on a crash truck at the airport. The cargo airplanes that flew back then were scary. Some of the planes were so bad we would prewrite reports for them. All we would have to do is fill in the date and time and sign it. saved time during meals or in the middle of the night. Some people would fly anything just to keep a job flying. The one exception cargo outfit was F.C."Doc" Moore's " Southern Air Transport". Never had any problems with them. Wonder why??
Not the same one..This one happened in the 50's and I think it was a DC3 or C46. Just one of many commercial flights but i think one of the first to crash. I saw the news paper clipping of it years ago. I don't remember it being a DC4. I don't think any wreckage ended up on 36th ST.
