Modvp, what are you hitting now as far as speeds?
Mike, I recently rigged the boat and getting it ready for its first water test. I got the engine from Shaun Torrente and have yet to water test it. This velocity is a tad heavier than yours; I am expecting it to run between 70-75 mph with the 250. I'll be sure to post my test results.
That boat is definately heavier then mine, but you should be able to keep your foot in it alot more then I can. Lightweight does have its disadvantages at times. I am looking forward to seeing some numbers!!!!! Good luck man
Hey guys, been watching your thread but haven't had time to post back lately. Someone asked a couple pages back what the top speed was on the blue twin 22. That ran 103 at 8400 turning 14.5 x 30 cleavers.
Here is a couple pictures of the red one with the 300X. Best I have had out of this lately is 86. Had 88 out of it 2 years ago when the engine was new. I don’t think its getting tired as it only has 110 hrs. on engine it may be the ethanol in the fuel which has less BTUs. I’m gona try some AvGas in it one of these days and see what happens.

I have been trying different props on my velocity 22, has a 300gt with a little work, anyone have suggestions or know what kind of speed I can expect. Tried Raker 24,chopper 24, hydromotive quad 26. need help!!!!:confused::confused::confused:
What year Velocity, & is the V8 a 3.6 or a 4.0
IT is a 1987 regal velocity, with a 3.6 300hp johnson V8. Do you have any info about this setup????:cheers:
I use to have a 1986 with a 3.6 Evenrude. With the engine stock the best three props I found were:
1.) For best speed 14 ½ x 28 Merc Chopper.
2.) Almost as fast, sometimes light load and on 2’ chop could be the fastest OMC 14 ¼ x 29 RX This is also an over hub round eared chopper style.
3.) OMC 14 ½ x 28 Raker Good top speed, Gives the boat a nice level attitude, Little tuff getting out of the hole, has to be vented.
Thanks for the info, seems the over hub props work better out of the hole but have alot of bow lift and get loose at top end. The motor doesn't have alot of torque at bottom end with through hubs even with vents, wow!!!!! when you peddle it at RPM. Could it be the gear ratio in the lower? What kind of speeds did you get?:confused::confused::cheers:

Has to do with the porting and exhaust tuning, but they had much better top end than a 4.0. Mercury’s Sport Masters have a 1:62 which is a higher gear than the V8 and they pull out of the hole great on the same boat. You could also try a Mrec 14 ½ x 28 Over Hub Cleaver. I got about 87 ( Not GPS) with the Chopper, stock 3.6, 1986 Kevlar hull, later on with a worked engine 91.
I feel it is definately possible to run 90 in these boats with a 300x, im hitting 76 and change with a stock 225 and a stock prop, with more left in the boat somewhere. I am sure people will argue and say its not possible, but in my eyes anything is possible with the right set up
I agree. The 88.4 I got last weekend was with ¾ tank of gas and the prop I’m running is a stock 14½ x 24 Merc Chopper. I’m thinking of labbing up a 25, but I still think I can get 90 with what I’m running now.
I can see there is a lot you guys using Trophys, what about Tempest Plus and Fury or is the Trophy the best all around prop on a Velocity 22" o/b?
Thanks Patrik
