I was told if your not in the states you can order one and you don't have to be an xcat team. We will see in a few weeks if this pans out cause it goes against everything I've herd.

maybe just maybe not EPA compliant??
believe it or not, the machine work for the mids is not done in house at Mercury. A guy up the road from us does it. I can shoot an email to find out possibly.
I don't think it's going to be black and white...when I talked to Mercury a month or so back, they said that the engines would be available to anyone where the engine could be "raced." If someone is willing to throw out $45k for a piece, I sure would sell it to them and if the timing is right I'm sure Mercury would also.
I'd rather let the Xcat boys do the R&D on these. Their disposable income is slightly larger than mine.
Interesting.
So 30k views and 400 replies later we have the answer and it is they run as good as they look.
Where are all the 4 stroke knobs that crucified me over all the yrs while telling me a 400 hp 4 stroke (Verado) was around the corner?
I think they said something like, "all they have to do is turn up the boost" ;)
Gator, and I am purely speculating. But 400 hp on a boosted 2.6 liter. Can't have a great life span. Specially knowing Mercs track record of having bean counters dictate the quality of parts inside
like I said Carl is rolling.
15lbs boost in a e-tec/MERCxs 300 would get the job done?
.
Wonder what XCAT racers are doing with their 2.5 280's that they won't need for racing because they swapped their motors for the 400ROS
I'll buy in!
