highly paid advisor, couple of days a week would be ok...

The kids made The Bahamas in two hours——- water was like a millpond—— the Cummins ran like Swiss watches. Used 70 gallons of fuel !
Culmination of seven years hard graft and dedication—— building the boat he always dreamed of—- every device known to the marine industry and then some never before seen applications —— cockpit lifts so you can look out over the top of the cabin——- gyro—- fly by wire—— dream about it and Marks installed it.
I was offered a first class ticket for that trip—— wasn’t quite up to muster—— had to turn it down.
Maybe later in the year—— God willing!Attachment 445459 A boy and his boat ! Makes me kinda proud—- you did good son !
some days you eat bear—— other days the bear eats you !
Been bogged down with the Rollers—— then suddenly everything clicks into place and you can step up a gear.
Instrument makers for the 1907 Silver Ghost were Jager Le Coutre and Patek Philipe —- one of the dashboard sets went missing and was never found!
If it came to light—- you would be looking at ten million pounds sterling !
On the final stretch—— my bloody upholsterer is swanning around the Bahamas —— but I should have all three vehicles ready for the final “COUPS DE GRACE”
Was tempted to post a piccie, ———— have to admit—— they do look the dogs cajones—- and I’m quite chuffed with the results so far .
Temperatures were down a lot on Thursday’s 100 degrees—— worst bit was the 80 degree nighttime temp.
Would have gone into the shop if I’d been allowed—— but no chance !
Isn’t it amazing in this day and age that a hot day in England can disrupt the railway system due to
“RAIL BUCKLING” ?
Remember the rhythm of the railway? DIDDLY DEE, DIDDLY DEE, DIDDLY DAH, DIDDLY DEE,—- everyone knew that was because of the expansion gap in the rails——- but clever buggers in high places decided they could get rid of the diddly Dee by having no expansion gap !!! Leading to silent travel ???
Duh—— it’s not rocket science is it ?
Though I’m still not watching F1 I couldn’t help but notice that Ferrari are still having major problems— but this is when their at their best—— when things look impossible—— they pull out a bit of magic !
Well, with Le Clerc in 10th—— and Vettel starting from the pit lane—— they need to—— or just employ Lewis!
Wonder how Geico will fare up in Michigan against Victory——The borrowed Boats a bit long in the tooth—- two jockeys have some experience between them——-but Victory has been dunked—— all sorts of calculations.
Kids having a great time in the Bahamas——- me, I’m in the shop all day—- finishing the third dashboard! Have a great day folks!
Many a good tune played on an old fiddle Pilgrim——- Scotty and Marc had their day—- Stevie has had a bloody good innings but is still coming up with the silverware—— where’s the next generation coming from——- your guess is as good as mine——- .
English expertise is second to none when it comes to top class offshore racing —- and management!
Guido got it right when he retired from circuit racing—- went into management and did it right—— Gary did it right in offshore—- also got it spot on !
Still amazed that all the offshore boats racing today are in boats 20+ years old —— in my day —- last years boat was old news—— but I guess that was the early days of R + D and boat design.
Anyone with enough cash and enthusiasm today, could command a new boat that would piss all over today’s top class race boats!
,I look back at the early racers like Gene Langham—— Odell Lewis—- Doc Magoon —- Sirois—- Pruett—- Sopwith —- Shead andmarvel at the things they did and got away with.
Just hope the history doesn’t get lost the way most powerboat history has !
Another good day in the shop—— turned up the last of the instruments for the third Roller!
Getting down to the nitty gritty bits——- making sure each one has the ten acetylene lamps required—— that’s thirty lamps that made it to the final concept—- plus the ten that didn’t!
Another week and I should be close to finishing all three !
It works out at about a month a vehicle—— around 100 hours labour and maybe £30 in material—-
What price can you put on a concept these days.
Whilst Hamilton made a right pigs ear of the German GP——- Vettel showed he still has a spark of life——- started from the pit lane and finished second ——- Verstappen had to come good one day.
Not that I even turned the TV on——- read about it on the iPad!
Another good day in the shop—— two of the rollers are ready for the upholsterer who is currently swanning around the Bahamas.
Should have the third up with the other two by close of play Tomorrow!
OK. If all goes as planned, I’ll post a couple of piccies of the three ROLLS ROYCE SILVER GHOSTS.
I generally get a good cross section of opinions——- there’s some that think the concepts are rubbish—- and some actually do buy one occasionally!
Attachment 445736Hell fire was I ever scary in the seventies —— I couldn’t even look in a mirror in case I thumped me !
where you beating dough in those days?
Finished “Kneading” dough in the late 50/s—— went hod carrying on the building—- earned twice as much hodding”as I did in the baking——even though I was a master baker—- with city and guilds to prove it. —— then went selling ladies “twin sets” for a year——— but that’s a whole different story
...."...!
Damn near finished the three Rolls Royce’s——- Just finding all the last fiddly bits I’ve overlooked—- .and there’s quite a few.
Definitely will post piccies before the weekend—- and yes , they will be done in time for Tavares!
Borrowing a boat and a change of driver really did not work for team Geico—- OK So they did put on a show, but third out of three did not make for exiting biting .!
Its time for a brand new boat methinks——- Geico is over twenty years old and a battle weary veteran,
i know Gary Stray has a nice new fifty footer on the drawing board— time to make it happen Ratbag!!
...I think we all looked like that in the 70's Jackie...

Jackie. I was showing my littlest grandson pictures in a book titled " A Century of Outboard Racing". I turned to page142 and there you were. A good close up picture of you and a competitor running what looks like 44in motors. The author however misidentified the motors as 800s. I was given this book several years ago at Christmas and it got put on a shelf and forgotten. My grandson pulled it off the shelf so I finally started to read it.
One of the few factual books on outboards ever written
Think that book was written by Kevin Desmond—- he was curator of the French Motonautique Maritime Museum for many years before the French pulled the plug on it!
He used to call all the race drivers to check what he had written was correct !
Saw him at The LMBRC reunion a couple of years ago. He lived in France for many years and speaks French fluently.
Lost my copy of the book years ago so I can’t recall the photo you’re referring to!
Attachment 445775Here it is.
Wow—- that is a long time ago—me and Lucky England racing a 13’ Bluefin( built by Ron Wolbold” “OO THE ELL IZEE” with a 500 Merc on its bum—— passing Les Goodhall in a Fabricated plastics “Derry” boat- Bitta L” built by John Iddon And John Derrington powered by a 350 Merc.
In spite of all the drivers help, Kevin did somehow manage to make several monumental cock- ups.
John Merryfield did race a 14’ Prout Twin hull with a pair of 350 Mercs on it in the Boatbuilders trials.
It was the same speed as a 13’ Blue fin with a 500 Merc ——- about 45 mph Max ! didn’t finish unfortunately—— that was the very first Twin Hull I ever saw raced—— long before the advent of the Molinari’s ?

Still got the leatherwork work to do, ButSam reckons itsapiece of cake ?
Jackie, I'm missing something on that Molinari Sprint that you cobbled (your word) for me a few years ago; your signature. Artists sign their work, so I'd ask that you create a miniature metal plaque of sorts, large enough to fit your etched signature & the year carved. It can be easily attached to a flat area on the boat, perhaps the big bottom of the tunnel, or the cockpit area of an offshore hull. Thinking there are others out there who would like you to do the same. No shipping required, just bring them to Tavares in your pocket!
Gary Ormand asked me to do the same thing a few years back—— can’t ever remember anyone asking me for my signature—— but I’ll gladly sign anything I’ve ever done Mark .
And I will be in Tavares on the Friday—— but I’m off to Englewood to see the Geico run on Sunday!
Little signed plaques did make me smile Mark—— give it twenty years and they’ll probably be worth more than the originals.
Attachment 445864
Been a a month since we started picking the sweet peas—- we get this many every day— gorgeous!
Attachment 445865
Tomatoes not so good—— Murphy pissed on them early on —- did them no good at all!
Attachment 445930
Not a bad place to pass the time——- that’s my workshop where al the fernagling goes on ! Attachment 445931
One day you might take time out and teach me a few rudimentals on photography Fuji?
Attachment 445973
Three of my grandkids Louise my eldest ( now Mrs Gary Stray) ——- Kate and Craig, and me taking up a large portion of the naughty step .
Swear t God pictures have a mind of their own Gene—— when I post them, they’re Always the right way up—— somewhere in cyberspace they change format—- or simply start playing the fool!
Looks like they have some pretty good crowds in Michigan—— Geico team looks to be up and running.
Macon boat looks very impressive——- and fast—— I think it will give the victory boat a hard time.
Safe racing everyone.
Attachment 446093Attachment 446094
Came across this last week when clearing out Marks mums things—— one of Marks earliest and best sponsors Stuart Carruthers.
Lewis went back to his winning ways—- left last weeks disaster far behind—- was quite a masterly display in the end—— Mercedes got the strategy right—— Red Bull Called it wrong !
Ferrari have a lot of work to do, they’re not normally so far behind—— must be one of the longest spells ever without a win for the prancing horse !
in the end, it was a two horse race——- yes, I did watch it on a sixty inch stereophonic all singing and dancing HD screen at my daughters house— a glass of whisky and a few nibbles—— the only way to watch a race these days !
Attachment 446136
Five of my eleven grandkids- JOE-BEN,CARLY, GEORGE AND CASEY.
Did a stupid trick last Wednesday —- whacked my thumb with a hammer—— over the weekend my hand ballooned! Fingers looked like Bratwurst—— sausages —- decided to go to the minor injuries unit at the hospital. Had an X Ray —— chipped the knuckle.
Three hours later went home—— Nothing they could do——- just stop doing stupid things!
Not a lot going on—- left hand pretty much useless—- I ought to use this time to clear the shop up— sweep up and tidy up, I have no further projects in mind.
Bought a beautiful piece of leather—— very dark green—- same colour as they do chesterfield suites in. Will try and do all the leatherwork on one of the rollers today !
