I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Jimmy Roselli etc...Italian singers, my granddad used to sing whenever there was a party, etc....seriously, I have the best family anyone could ever be blessed with, wow brought back memories of my grandparents, married over 50 years, my grandfather called my grandmother his Marilyn Monroe...
For all you Italians out there on Scream and Fly...remember these from your family history...I even know the words :eek:...don't know what they mean but I remember the words....:D thanks for letting me do this, bringing me back to my childhood days and my family....OMG I just remembered my happy childhood.

Damn, dog gave up on me waiting to go out, as I sat here in the shop, listening to the 1/2 hour stuff, I posted! She''s outside now, and STILL WAITING...(soon..a walk!).
Anyway, "tight family's"..are hard to come by. I was born, 10 years after my older bro, 14 years after my older sis, dad got frisky at FIFTY, and I was never "planned". I won't say "broken rubber".. but I'm still here , almost 60 years later.
My mom was an Angel, my dad..??..lets not go there.
But I was taken in, others, and all those kids, had good old SOLID, Italian familys!

Well I was always loved my those ChiTown Italian mob parents, taught me..(and the other kids).. well, always welcome, me, and if Mama Daddono, (friends mom)..slammed a plate of good old Italian Spaghetti at ya..YOU WOULD FINISH IT... or no Ice Cream!.
I grew up with kid friends, figure a good 50, and only ONE, was a POLACK, and one a cheap "Bohemian"..Danny the Polack got killed on a motorcycle, in AZ at 23, but the "Bohack" lives...and thats the one punching keys here.
I SWEAR, out of those 50, FORTY EIGHT!..had a last name that ended in a "O"...Italians have ALWAYS been, the best to know....(Mark?..a thumbs up here!)...but ya better be good, or "Cement Shoes..Chicago river!..(tough bunch!..back there, but thats Chitown.."politics"...(my way, or the highway..)...and most CAN!..sing!

Yup, I had the perfect roll models!!!! dinner on Sunday was always at Grandma and Granddad's with the whole family, each and every one of us made up games to play with each other, there was no such thing as a video game and the TV was off until dinner and desert was done, we found ways to have fun.. Pasta was handmade (at times) the wine was always handmade by the family and my granddad grew his own grapes and we all crushed um... I think the quality of life has changed so much, we always made time to have dinner together on Sunday where the whole family sat, ate, and drank TOGETHER...the men played cards while the women cleaned up. I think my mom and her sisters and brother never went a day without seeing my grandparents. It was a life that was truly amazing!!! when our grandparents died so much changed but our memories are always there, actually we still talked about it, all the time..Oh, Robby we werent' mob Italians...lol...we were old school Italians where family meant everything....ok last Italian songs but good ones. Oh, and they found the fountain of youth, look at this pic they were in their middle 80's. All I can say is, ~What a wonderful life~!!! we were BLESSED...Everyone wanted to be part of my family.....
Granddad was always the one who held up the glass to salute, his family !!!:smiletest:God do I miss them too, I am sure Phil met up with them in Heaven!

And "Mob/Traditional"...I don't think there was any difference. All old school Itailians..family first, just papa had a different job. Most ran bars, ran the pinball and record players, etc. More or less had control. But it was cool to me, as the kids always had the newest and latest. Heck, remember riding around with Sammy, brand new 442, us 17, sacks of quarters in the back seat, stacks of 45's for the jukeboxes. Just too much fun. :thumbsup:
