What kind of boat was that? Molinari or Velden?

The boat cowling looks like a Scotti Craft.
I talked with Bob and his wife for quite some time last year at the Havasu reunion. Yes it was a Scotti - one of the few pickle-fork Scottis. Bob was very humble about his racing success in the 70's. His wife was really great to talk with, she knew virtually every boat Bob had over the many years he raced. It was a real 'walk down memory lane' talking with both Bob Larson and Bob Holloway - both great California racers of that era.Quote:

Its a very easy answer to this..
Veldens F1-V8 boats/molds in the last years of the F1-V8 series was purpose built only for the OMC V8..very advanced with a possibility to change both sponson at the races.. Flat or rough water etc.
After the 1989 season when OMC stopped the F1-V8 racing there was no more need for the advanced Velden tunnel boats.

In the early 1970's, his store was what I remember him owning. This was before Cees went to building race boats. And in 1973, at the Molinari race shop in Como, Cees told me Renato would not let him go into the wooden boat building on the 2nd floor.Quote:

The first time I met Cees Van Der Velden was at the UIM ON Class World Championship race in Skokloster, Sweden 1972.
I raced the SE class and the big boys in the ON class complained about the windy conditions..!!
After lots of delays the four heat in the ON class was finally finished and Cees Van Der Velden was the new UIM ON class World Champ.

A DeSilva Wing won the Parker 9 hours 1970. Powered by twin Evinrude Starflite Racing V4 engines.
Allan Stinson and Jerry Walin was the drivers.
First outboard to ever win the 9 Hour was of course Evinrude..(First in Outboards)..:)
