Probably is Pilgrim———- But Only in my world ?
Should be one of the pieces I get to finish this week.
IF it happens —— I’ll post a piccie .

Sunday is usually an odd sort of day——- something usually happens—— Mother’s Day—- Father’s Day—- birthday——- holiday—— very rarely do I get a free and uninterrupted Sunday in the shop, but today I did !
Had no interruptions—- mind got to ticking like a well oiled Swiss watch.
Worked out the mounts for the next twenty Concepts ——— absolutely brilliant—- amount for all seasons!
When you get to do ten “MAGOON” boats——- they should have one thing in common to relate them to the great man———- I had one of my mad fits of depression and the MAGOON Mount transpired!
I now have ten virgin boats on the go——- latest one is a 2002 ALLISON———— don’t ask me why—— I just saw one and decided I had to do one.
Then Theres the SK —- and Marks Fishboat——- The imaginary Transatlantic Two LONGER boat, and all boats between.
Ah yes, then there’s the BONHAM BARN FINDS——— which is undergoing a major refurb at the same time
Been a busy bunny today——- quite satisfying—— rewards will start rolling in next week! IHOPE .
Bloods at 9:00 am—— then another full day in the shop——— slept like a baby last night——- think it’s like the old Mick Jagger number “SATISFACTION”
Finally started to wear surgical gloves all the time—in the shop that is —— — hands were getting to look like the bottom of the lathe bed——- kept getting the crossed index from females——- kinda dented my ego——- !
Jackie—
Magoon, GG, Mercury, Brunswick, Penske, Detroit, Parker Meridian, et al——-were NOTprepared to spend what it would take to ‘Cross the Atlantic ‘—
Sir Richard showed them how to spend enough to be successful—
— and then he created a ‘Challenge’ and a silver trophY for anyone to break his record—
Gentry showed him how to set a new record— and spend money—
Rest In Peace, Tom
was told by someone who SHOULD know——- “ THERES A LOT OF QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED OVER GENTRY’s demise ?... !????
Love to hear your views Gene.
Branson loved powerboating——- was loyal to his friends—— I think he holds the “ BLUE RIBAND”
If you were a friend of R/Byou were made—— !
Attachment 435754
Lizzie is now four going on fifteen——— I am now MR.GRANDPA JACK——- Shesquite the young lady——- athletic—— bright and well mannered !
Blue Riband--The Tranatlantic was 1989
The MNM Nassau--and Miami -NY were 1988--

This was a 'Trick- old-racers-get- up- to' Jackie---
Peter Birkett and Sir Richard flew with me--way back when--
http://i64.tinypic.com/25k6lbk.jpg
More I thought about it, more intrigued I got——- never realised just how bloody much “BIGGER” The GENTRY EAGLE was ! 112’ ——- when you consider we were talking around the forty foot Mark for most Cigarette—- Apache—— Formula—— Magnum type tackle!
Attachment 435832
Its damn near a ship ——— once went on Al Copeland’s 112’ mother boat ——— it had a range of goodies to go with it ———- Lamborghini——— Floatplane—— a dozen V 8 motorcycles—— a couple of offshore forty footers———- usual things you know .
its one for the future—— I’m up to my fetlocks in concepts at the minute,
that got converted to a yacht I seem to remember, John Connor was the skipper
http://www.gentryeagle.com/
OK, I’ll see what I can do Pilgrim——- don’t have any interest whatsoever in doing the afterbirth of The Gentry Eagle——— But I do think the “Original” makes for some exciting biting!
Did get the long Apache just about finished——— it’s all red——— buggered if I can remember the name ?
Something like WARLOCK————WARLORD——- comes to mind!
I have a head full of ideas and a shop full of half built concepts !
Two trunk fulls of completed concepts ready to ship to Florida———- one to Wilson Custom Marine—- the other to Geico.
Lou and Gary are taking them to the first race at Cocoa Beach in May——- see if there’s any interest?
Warpath?
Couldabeen Pilgrim——- But it’s now WARLOCK———- finally finished—— it’s been a bit long winded——- because , in my unfailing wisdom and unbonated optism, I opted to go for an “eight at once” policy, —— pure folly. ,
All came about with the advent of memory loss——— I started to think, that’s a good idea, then I’d forget what I thought about in the first place.
Only way to beat memory loss, is to do it there and then——- Si I did just that ——- eight bloody times.
Attachment 435880Attachment 435881
Well——- there ‘ttis——Warpath——- now Warlock—— for no other reason than I couldn’t remember !
Remember seeing movie pictures of the Apache running across some real sloppy water——- one of the sweetest running boats I ever saw.
'APACHE'
Another legend with a lot of questions--

If you decide to do the 112'--Jackie---
I have some pictures--

Next on the “TO DO” list Gene, ——— well into the “mightabeen” CITICORP TRAVELLER”————extended superstructure and hull already done————- outboards and sterndrives cobbled on to a transom——- mounted on a globe.
Well on the way———— I’m getting up earlier and working later———— don’t have time to grow older.
Eighty eight is just a number anyway———— I’m giving the next two a miss——— Jilly’s saving up for the big nine O——- always promised I would take her to South Africa !
Dreamed last night I made a MISS DIABLO ——all black——- Boyds took one look at it and said “ WHAT THE HELLS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE ?”
It was only a dream !
taken me all morning just to fit the glass in the “Bigger’ CITICORP TRAVELLER” —— hope it goes a bit quicker this afternoon!
Quarterly health check says I’m god to go———- steroids being cut again——— lost five kilos in five months——— would appear that I’m in complete control of my own destiny.!
Must be doing something right——— buggered if I know what it is .
'In The Beginning'----
At Vospers Thorneycroft
http://i66.tinypic.com/annhxh.jpg
Titanic of all race boats Gene, that thing was “HUCKING FUGE” ————- funny how so many of the memorable boats were produced here in the UK.
Vospers made everything!——- including HI PERF Boats .
Souters were the same——- made all the stuff for Sonni Levi—-
Who was the Architecht ——-
There were a goodly number of individuals here who imported offshore race boats from the USA——
I even imported a 20’ JONES KT WITH A KEITH BLACK BIG BLOCK.
Cant remember anyone over here putting a “BROWNIE” type race book together !
Kevin Desmond put a couple of “Factual” documentary type powerboating books together—— quite good for reference —— but with a distinct lack of humour. Saw him a couple of years back at the LMBRC remembrance dinner.
I’ll stitch some timber together, all ready for carving out the 112’ GENTRY EAGLE.
Another Little challenge to while away the hours and keep the arthritis at bay a bit longer !
Thats a great piccy to start with Gene ——- I’ll take any more you have !
Did you ever get to meet MIKE BELLAMY ——— one of the smarter offshore racers——- lots of “theoretical “——— But He did put together some winning combinations———- well, it’s his birthday today .
See if I can’t get the “Bigger” CITICORP TRAVELLER “ finished any time soon,—— with all these concepts on the go at once——- shop tends to be a tad cluttered!
Really sorry to hear about Mathew Caldwell’s blow over in the F1Baba hull.
Question begs —— how come he was so seriously injured in a modern day tunnel boat
He was “THROWN OUT”
You do not get thrown out of an F1 tunnel boat these days
Only one reason for that——- he wasn’t strapped in !
You don’t even do a “break in” routine unless you’re well and truly belted up.
All my heartfelt sympathies are with you Mathew—— recover soon, I wish you all the best.

Matthew Caldwell in serious accident
BY JOHN MOORE ON 12TH APRIL 2019
Caldwell Racing Technologies president Matthew Caldwell was involved in a serious accident when demonstrating the CRT 2.5 BILLET Engine on a BaBa hull yesterday.
Caldwell was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation to reattach his ankles, he is currently in an intensive care unit and more surgery is expected.
2018 UIM F1H2o World Champion and fellow American Shaun Torrente commented on the accident:The person driving did not strap in and utilize the safety capsule as intended. The motor that he was using has been built by Caldwell Racing Technologies and was first seen in 2016, since then there has been an extensive test programme.
He is really lucky to be alive.
If the capsule is used properly there is over an 85% chance you will walk away unharmed.
If you crash a capsule boat without strapping in, 95% of the time you won’t have to worry about drowning because you will already be dead or so badly injured it won’t matter.

The engine was shipped to the UIM F1H2o race in Abu Dhabi last year, however it couldn’t be used due to lack of homologation papers.
Thanks Bob——- Mathew did not stick to the rules——- safety cells were developed after multiple fatalities in open cockpits—— result of being strapped in a safety cell made top class racing much safer.
But, as the saying goes “FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT “ ———
only way he could have been hurt so badly, was not having his safety harness coupled up.
Mathew has learned the hard way.
strapped in with full air...
Been dwelling on Mathew Caldwell’s accident all weekend.
Here we have a highly intelligent individual——-driving a very sophisticated piece of kit——- that only people who are highly qualified should be piloting.
Was it a case of owner thinking he knew better ?
Equipment failure——- laziness or something else !
Remember Mark telling Hodges that his latest boat was a dog, wouldn’t turn——- Chris was telling him how he had to settle the boat and then turn.
This turned into an argument with Hodges jumping into the boat and promptly running into the rocks and tearing the bottom out of the boat.
Just another case of the builder thinking he knew better than the driver !
Wonder if the Caldwell incident was something along those lines ?
I do know his regular test pilot is a very good, widely experienced and respected driver.
There will be questions asked that must be answered——- which is as it should be when accidents happen!
Just happy that Mathew is making good progress——— I wish you all the very best and a speedy recovery.

Been and gone and done it again ———— said I would only do the one at a time bit in the future—— best laid plans of mice and men and old long since retired old gits trying to keep the arthritis at bay!
Need some topside piccies Gene of the Gentry Eagle——— Thought I had enough—— but not enough detail of the radar and radio equipment !
You said you had pictures——- well I need them——- got the thing roughed out——- next comes the clever bit.
Dang Jackie--you're taking me back more than 30 years!!
This pic was taken at a ritzy marina in Mamaroneck NY--we had set the Miami/NY record--even though having huge issues with the Lycoming.
Lycoming sent an engineer to troubleshoot the engine---and set the boat on fire!!
Luckily there was an off-duty firefighter on the crew---
Pissed off all the yacht owners--the Marina asked us to leave---

Gives me an idea of where I’m at —— and where I’m going.
You know what I’m like Gene, see something, think about it, and afore you can say Switzer, I’m on a mission.
Generally, i set off with the top down—— empty tank—— into a tornado, with bald tyres —— but at least——- I remembered.
I’ll keep you in the “LOOP”——— another bloody silly present day bit of garbage!
All my good pics are in Colorado, Jackie
And we are still a couple weeks from heading back to the 'Frozen North'--
Meanwhile---

Eckie was involved in all four---
